It's been a while since I shared a "fun with Recipes" tip. This one is useful if you have more than one admin or moderator, and want to keep share why you banned (or unbanned) a specific member. To set up this Recipe: 1. Go into your control panel and click Basics > Recipes. 2. Click "Build Custom Recipe." 3. Give it a name, like "Add Member Note When Banning." 4. For Trigger, choose "Member Banned." 5. For Action(s) to Take, choose "Add Member Note." You'll notice that you can insert an...
Depending upon your site's design you may want to change the new default avatar display so that all initials appear the same color. With a bit of CSS you can do that. Copy the following into your Display Settings > Custom CSS box .default-member-avatar-container circle, .default-member-avatar-container rect { fill: gainsboro !important; } In this example "gainsboro" is a greyish color (#dcdcdc for those keeping score). You'll find a large listing of colors to chose from here . You can...
You already know that you can insert images into your Hoop.la posts by clicking "Add Attachments." But do you know how to refine the SEO value for each image? This quick tip offers some additional options that may help optimize your post (and make it easier to read for accessibility purposes). You'll notice there's an Attachments box at the bottom of the post, which is where you can adjust the Title and Caption if you'd like to do so. The Title field will default to the filename, but it's...
Hey everyone- Sometime next week, we'll be rolling out another major update for Crowdstack , this one focusing on improving navigation in the Admin Control Panel. Currently, the Admin Control Panel is one very long list of links. We're making things (hopefully) easier to get to by putting the main control panel sections in a smaller menu at the top of each control panel page, with the subsections of each main area available in a sidebar when you are in a particular section. It will look like...
Hi, Is it possible to moderate reactions? For example, a member wants to react with at thumbs down. Can that member action be made to appear in the /cp/moderationQueue so it must be approved before it goes live? Thanks, ST
Hello, I have some questions about membership management on Crowdstack, like does the platform offer something similar to like NationBuilder, or Wild Apricot? We're looking for ways to track our members, take fees, and be able to pull from our various social media like Facebook and MailChimp. I was directed to FeePod, but the price seemed exorbitant for us as a nonprofit. If there's a way we can set up a call to talk, that would be helpful as well. Thank you, Robert Nelson
Is there a way an admin can temporarily mute a member for a designated time period rather than ban them? It would send a clear message of a rule infraction.
Hi, we're planning to use your SSO to be integrated with our own registration and login system. I have a ques: how do we actually login to crowdstack from our site with the use of SSO? I checked your API calls and can see that you have endpoints for SSO member lookup as well as the login endpoint however, in your login, we need to provide the password which we don't have since we're just logging in from our site. Please let me know what do we need to do or use to achieve this. Thanks.
If you ban a member when deleting content, it automatically notifies the member that they are being banned. We use this mainly to remove spammers or shut down problem members. Then they respond to the notification to argue. Make the default not to notify OR Add an option for the admin to choose whether to notify.
In my automated messages, I often greet members by their username (in the email salutation), but your system automatically links their user name to their member profile and thus gives their name the default link color, which is a different color than the rest of the email text. This makes the email look more like a form letter than I would like (as if I just filled in a blank with their name). Of course, this is precisely what happens, but I would like their names not to look so obviously...
Would it be possible for you to add a Popup Action in the Automation Rules? This could be handy in many situations: Acknowledging a posting milestone (a member's 100th post, his 500th post, etc.) These would be a good opportunity to build member pride and loyalty via a "Congratulations!" popup. Notices on New Content about threads being started in the correct sub-forum. The setup should allow for us to author different popups for different purposes.
I'm suggesting that there should be a way to indicate to a member if has already posted in a specific thread. Some of the threads on our forum have very long legs. Many are several years old, but remain active with new ideas and photos posted in the threads daily. The record-holder is THIS THREAD which was started in January 2013 and is now 987 pages long! It still has new content posted in it every day. Threads that grow beyond a few pages become very difficult to search. If a member could...
Very interesting ideas. I will try to get a copy of Built to last. Here are two links to a fellow LiveCloud member. First one is her LiveCloud account. The second one is a link to the book she has available regarding on-line behaviors. Check them out if you get a chance. by Communitygirl 18 Rules for community engagement
Folks, is anyone in the Crowdstack community using the "blog" feature to deliver a digital magazine? If so, how did you set that up and implement it? We have used Crowdstack for years to deliver a private discussion forum to our 6,000 club members. We already produce a bi-monthly printed magazine. We would like to: Copy and paste the text and images from the magazine into categorized, dated and tagged posts. Automatically deliver a bimonthly summary of all articles/posts since the previous...
When you block a person, they can no longer invite you to a private message or post to your profile wall. Replies and comments they make will be collapsed/hidden by default. Finally, you'll never receive email notifications about content they create or likes they designate for your content.
Note: if you proceed, you will no longer be following .
