It's been a while since I shared a "fun with Recipes" tip. This one is useful if you have more than one admin or moderator, and want to keep share why you banned (or unbanned) a specific member. To set up this Recipe: 1. Go into your control panel and click Basics > Recipes. 2. Click "Build Custom Recipe." 3. Give it a name, like "Add Member Note When Banning." 4. For Trigger, choose "Member Banned." 5. For Action(s) to Take, choose "Add Member Note." You'll notice that you can insert an...
Hey everyone- Sometime next week, we'll be rolling out another major update for Crowdstack , this one focusing on improving navigation in the Admin Control Panel. Currently, the Admin Control Panel is one very long list of links. We're making things (hopefully) easier to get to by putting the main control panel sections in a smaller menu at the top of each control panel page, with the subsections of each main area available in a sidebar when you are in a particular section. It will look like...
Another major feature we are adding soon is "reactions", to be included when we roll out Pips . Reactions are an expansion on the "likes" you are already familiar with, with a much broader palette that allows community members to quickly express their feelings about a particular post/reply/comment. Reactions will be expressed on a post like so: Click on a reaction that has already been expressed to add yourself to that reaction, or choose the plus icon to choose one of the other reactions.
What do you think of this? If you're intrigued keep reading. If not; Move along folks. Nothing to see here. Fork to a New Topic We have the cool feature that let us fork a post to a new topic. and the post then gets a tag like this. The Problem But people will often reply to the post anyway - and that just makes things difficult. I just did this. When you click the Read More button it returns to To make this happen. Edit the forked post Edit the post Source Code Add the highlighted text...
Sometimes you want to bring widget content onto the Home page of your community, in the left column. This tip is the step-by-step on how to accomplish that! If you've done this in your community, please share your own hints for making it work here too. In this example, we're displaying forum topics, but you can do this same method with other widget content. Go to control panel, under “manage widgets.” Click the Embedded Widgets tab. Click “add embedded widget.” Select “UBB Forum” in the...
How to add an image rotator to your home page banner. We will be using a package called Slick. Slick is fully compatible with Crowdstack, can be responsive, and has oodles of fun features, We will be doing a basic setup just to get it installed and working. First, download the files that you need. Go to the Slick website and click Get it now. Click download now and download the zip file to your desktop or downloads folder, whichever you usually use. Once it is downloaded, unzip the zip file.
It would be really convenient to have some "at a glance" shorthand "Permission Notes" in the CP's Forum Topics View showing Who Can View Subject/View Content/Post/Reply --without having to open each one. Invariably we think a permission is set a certain way for something and it's not. Put the shorthand "permission" notes in the wide-open space between the forum's name and the trashcan in a tiny font. ourURL/cp/forum-structure Shorthand examples: View Subj: All; Content: Spec Roles; Reply:...
Yeah Harold I 2nd 3rd and 4th that!! (I have a multiple personality) Arghhhh!! I got.. This cannot be happening!! The system is not responding, so your request could not be completed at this time. Please try again later. <button class="x-btn-text" id="ext-gen370">OK</button> <button class="x-btn-text" id="ext-gen378"></button> <button class="x-btn-text" id="ext-gen386"></button> <button class="x-btn-text" id="ext-gen394"></button>
Hi Brad, On the Survey Settings page, you can set the default permissions for newly created surveys (for who can complete the survey and view the survey results). You do not set the actual Create Survey permission there, however. To control who can Create Surveys, you need to go into the Permissions section of your control panel. Select the Permission Circle that you want to be able to create surveys and then click the Permissions tab. For example, for All Members, that URL is:...
Hi Chrissanne, For your notifications, you might want to double check that your "comments/replies" notifications are turned on, in addition to the primary content ones. To gather up your latest content for a weekly update, the easiest way would be to go to your control panel, under Manage Content, and do a search by date. Make sure that you tick the box that says "include comments/replies." That will give you a list that you can work with. Then for the email, you can incorporate quotes with...
Hi Brisotti, The code should go into your Display Settings control panel in the Custom CSS box. You need to make sure you use the permission circle's group ID instead of "premium" if it's not a premium permission group. For your Patrocinador circle, that numeric ID is 350043526109298115, which you can see in the URL when editing the permission circle's details. I changed your selector to .h-member-badge-350043526109298115, which fixed the problem (you also had replaced the 'h' with "webkits"...
Hi Ted, All of this sounds logical but I do have a question. Right now we assign "roles' to clients and have a recipe that puts them into the appropriate circle automatically. Will that automatically carry over with the new terminology or will we need to make adjustments manually? Thanks! Mary
Hi @MHK@CS2 - Yes, it's just a terminology change, so you will not have to re-do your recipes. The "circles" you were using before will still apply, just renamed as "roles" instead. 🙂
I’m confused then about how the recipe will still work… when I register a new client I assign them one of two roles, and that triggers what circle they are added to. If the role goes away, it seems like I would need to adjust the recipe in some fashion so people with “Role A” don’t get permissioned to “Circle B.”
Hi @MHK@CS2 - The Crowdstack application does not currently use the term "role" in any sense. Recipes do not either. Recipes have triggers, conditions and actions, but not "roles". You can target specific circles in a recipe (as a "condition" and through certain "actions"). But, to reiterate, this is nothing but a terminology change-- all references to what Crowdstack currently calls "Circles" will be called "Roles" when this release is deployed. It wil not change the behavior of any of your...
Add me to the group trying to figure this out. What is different here for a user beyond what they have already had within the notifications area? And where do I find this in my Admin Control panel to set it up, if I want to use it?
The biggest difference is portability. Since it's a widget, you can now put the personalized activity stream anywhere you want in the interface. Also, I think it appeals to people who are more used to the "feed" mentality, where you can see a page with "just your stuff" on it. You don't have to turn the personalized activity stream on or off, it should just be there if your users want to see it (if you are using the Activity Stream at all, which you turn on or off in the Structure area of...
Hi, Derek! You can create an Automation Rule that comps them a Premium Membership based on their response to a profile field: 1. In Automation Rules, add a new Rule, and give it a name ("Comp Premium Membership for Retired Members", for instance). 2. The Trigger will be "Member Registers". 3. For Condition, choose Profile File Field Value, and then scroll to the appropriate listed field (you can choose more than one value, so here's your chance to choose both "Retired" and "Disabled" if...
When you block a person, they can no longer invite you to a private message or post to your profile wall. Replies and comments they make will be collapsed/hidden by default. Finally, you'll never receive email notifications about content they create or likes they designate for your content.
Note: if you proceed, you will no longer be following .
