On moving guitars.co.uk to hoop.la I sacrificed a couple of classifieds - one was using wordpress and another was using a script I had modified - both worked ok and both were getting quite good "following".  However in order to use the domain...

That's the question. If so, I can't seem to find where to build one. And if it doesn't...it should!

To Community Managers and Moderators Do you post topics to generate conversations and build your community? Our Bose Portable PA Community is dedicated to performers. Most of the conversations tend to be technical, and I'd like to see us get back to celebrating what we do as well as the technology we use to do it. You can see some of the starter topics here: Getting To Know You Do you do this in your community? What kinds of questions do you ask? Please share your experiences. Thank you, ST

Hi Alexei, Yeah, there are ways to pull that off using some more complex HTML and CSS. That type of customization is typically outside of the realm of the general support we offer since it gets into designing and customizing your site to your specific needs. We do have a new program called "Build It For Me" that may be of interest to you. For a flat rate of $199, you get up to 3 hours of one-on-one support in setting up and configuring your site. We take a very proactive approach with your...

Will do! I've basically been encouraging everyone I know interested in my site concept to share it like crazy. Having the support of friends / family with thriving online social networks helps a ton. And I realized that I should sign up for a FB page so I could entice regular FB users BACK to my site by posting news and blog post links there. Learning a lot and loving what you guys are doing! Where are you located? A couple people have asked and I can't figure it out. Morgan

Yes, you should definitely leverage your FB presence. That will help you too. The bulk of our staff are in Seattle, WA, but a couple of us are in Charleston, SC. We're in the process of opening a second office here. It's definitely helping us to have folks in two time zones!

You sure can! On your blog page, on the right hand column, you should see an RSS link. Just grab that and feed it into Hootsuite as I described above, and voila. Just let me know if you run into any trouble, and I can help further.

If this important to you, I'd suggest creating a suggestion that clearly defines what you are looking for. I don't think it is likely that we will build in a whole status color control panel, because I just don't see much demand for that. However, I could see supporting this for you (and others) by adding more CSS classes that could make it possible. For example, we could add a class to a topic box if it is closed that would allow you to set custom CSS to your theme to set a different...

Thanks, Brian. Yes, if you could give us an estimate of what would be required to build the feature described below, that would be helpful. We have a couple of moderators who frequently need to forward emails, and they are finding the current situation a bit limiting. Thanks so much for your help. Donna

Hi Ivan! Great to hear from you In Hoop.la, you can do a bulk upload of calendar events (anything in iCal format, which includes Google Calendar , Apple Calendar (formerly iCal), IBM Lotus Notes, Yahoo! Calendar, and Microsoft Outlook . Your members can also add Hoop.la calendar events to their own personal calendar clients, by clicking the "Add event to my calendar" link. Hoop.la's calendar also supports RSVPs, so your members can show whether they plan to attend the event or not. RSVPs...

This has been extremely helpful for me! Thank you both (Jane and Rosemary)! It is always so empowering to see what other people are doing to build community, and how they are connecting online and offline relationships and projects to make the world we live in better. I'm struggling to make the conversion from Facebook to our new (3 months) Hoop.la site (LakelandConnection.com) but this has reminded me to be patient. I look forward to more case studies like this!

Hi Aaron- I'm not sure I understand your question. Yes, Hoop.la is web accessible. In fact, it is an online community platform, which is inherently on the web. I'm guessing you are intending to ask something else? Are you asking if it is mobile-accessible? If so, the answer to that is also yes. If you can clarify your question further, we'd be happy to assist. Thanks!

Hi Ted, Thanks for your response. My questions is esentially wondering if it follows WCAG or section 508 or will it pass accessibility checks? I did a few checks on the site I was referring to and found quite a few issues with accessibility.

Hi Aaron- Okay, understand your question now. You are correct, Hoop.la would not pass every accessibility guideline at this time.

Hi Dave, Yes, java is rejecting the certificate from your SSO server because GoDaddy never got the G2 root into Java. They did post a workaround: Install the GoDaddy G1 to G2 Cross certificate in your certificate bundle file along with the intermediate certificate. This allows our SHA-2 certificates to be trusted by any client that recognizes our SHA-1 roots. You can get this file from our repository at https://certs.godaddy.com/anon... . Once this is installed, Java will build a certificate...

Hi there, Can you tell me where I go to change the activity title options and the community points or rank required to achieve a given activity title? Also, is it possible to add an activity title that requires more community points (or a higher community rank) than our current highest? Not sure if this makes sense... Thanks, Emma

Will that ever happen?  How about filtering tools? Ways to categorize (classify) a post?  Any overhaul to Eve Community any time soon, or is it going to get dropped soon? I see Livecloud, Social Enterprise, and recently Hoopla, but I like...

What would be great is to jazz up the activity stream widget where your tech script writer make it possible to configure that module to show all visitor activity on the site (even those of bots). There should be a functionality to limit the activity...

Hi Argeaux! This document might be helpful for you. There's a whole section on FTP uploading in there. Note that this document is "archived" so there may be minor differences in the screenshots, etc., but the essential information on FTP should still be applicable. If this doesn't answer your question, please let me know!

Hi Chris, it appears that the sorting order is determined by the way that the build process creates the database entries. The only way to fix the sort is to essentially remove all of the records for your site, then add them back in reverse order. I'm not so sure that we want to take a chance on doing serious damage to the site in order to do this, do we?

My board is back up. It went down yesterday some time and now it is back up. I didn't do anything other than try to view it. Strange.
