Hi, I’ve gone to my admin console, and as a Super Admin, I am not able to set permissions to create surveys. Create survey is not an option here: http://forums.bicycling.com/cp/survey-settings Thanks, Brad
Thanks Rosemary for the tips. I especially like the Survey idea. Once upon a time, we used them to actually "survey" members about issues/ideas, but now I see that it's also a good idea to provide a point of easy-engagement. Update: We just posted a single survey question and got over a hundred engagements in the first two days One thing we've tried to do is assign "monitoring and response" duties to various members of our admin/moderator group so that every post gets responded to. These...
Hi, Brian: I see the check box when configuring circles at the site level. Of course, all of this is more convoluted for me because we are using groups in an unconventional way. So when I looked at configuring circles at the group level, there is no checkbox for VIewable By Super Admins Only (I thought you'd get a chuckle out of this one). After poking around a bit with a couple of my dummy accounts, it looks like the Viewable By Super Admins Only default applies to group level circles by...
Hi, I'm especially excited about the photo change. Thanks! I did, though, have two questions about the personalized activity stream. I had an activity stream on my home page (Member Milestones and More!), but I don't see a way to personalize it (see screen shot below). Why not? And, two, I don't understand this comment, "In addition, there is a new Personal Activity Stream page available whenever the Activity Stream is enabled for your site." (1) How do you enable the Activity Stream (I...
Add me to the group trying to figure this out. What is different here for a user beyond what they have already had within the notifications area? And where do I find this in my Admin Control panel to set it up, if I want to use it?
The biggest difference is portability. Since it's a widget, you can now put the personalized activity stream anywhere you want in the interface. Also, I think it appeals to people who are more used to the "feed" mentality, where you can see a page with "just your stuff" on it. You don't have to turn the personalized activity stream on or off, it should just be there if your users want to see it (if you are using the Activity Stream at all, which you turn on or off in the Structure area of...
I haven't commented on this yet, but while looking into creating our own IOS home screen lock favicon, I found this thread. Lucky you. I'm not a fan of teal in any use. Doesn't help that obviously this was designed by a San Jose Sharks fan. Go Jackets! I would probably have cut off the top pointy triangle on the stylized 'H' to accentuate the logo looking more like a "talk bubble" (which was the intent, right?) Anyway... so on what admin page do I paste my link rel="apple-touch-icon" code?
No, I wasn't blocked. I just noticed that in the past if I signed up as a new member under my IP address on my hoop.la site using a different email address as a test member, I could not send a dialog to that test member & I attributed that to having the same IP since I was also the Admin because the system shows the registration IP & the last IP used to login. If the system however is not wired to see that as a conflict, then something else was blocking my ability to receive a dialog...
Hi Richard- There is no setting to prevent it, but you could apply some custom CSS to hide it: div.likeReplyColumn { display:none !important; } (Add that to your Custom CSS field in Display Settings in your admin control panel.)
We love groups and the key to making them work is to really think about how to "architect" the information flow. You want the group to contain the information valuable to the participants, but want to be sure you're not managing duplicate content within the groups; which makes it hard to manage. Let me elaborate: Our groups care for separate partner organizations, all of which have different focuses, products and concerns. The assigned admin of the group keeps their section updated with the...
#3 "request deletion of all of their content by the admin" is a problem for message threads where a user's content is critical to the rest of the user's messages in that thread. They should not have the right to ruin other people's contributions if their post is important or replied to. What I would suggest is that they have the right to remove their NAME from posted content, not the content itself, in order to make their content anonymous. At our 'lesson' content site, we view all posts as...
That item is a "request" by the member for the admin to delete their content. You can refuse to delete their content, if you feel it's within your rights. We're just providing the mechanism that will support compliance with GDPR; what you choose to do with it is your decision as the owner/admin. Unfortunately, when technological solutions are legislated, they don't always think of the consequences for all scenarios. Sadly, online communities were not really given deep consideration when...
Looking forward to learning the new admin layout, Ted. As a long time customer, I'm impressed with how often you not only improve the product but evolve it. I understand what you are changing "graemlins" to "emoticons" but hope it doesn't mean you're planning to someday retire the animated graemlins. I've always enjoyed them, think they're superior to boring emoticons, and consider them to be a bit of both your company's "DNA" and my own online
When you block a person, they can no longer invite you to a private message or post to your profile wall. Replies and comments they make will be collapsed/hidden by default. Finally, you'll never receive email notifications about content they create or likes they designate for your content.
Note: if you proceed, you will no longer be following .
