Thought I'd share a few of the CSS customizations we've made to our site which may be helpful to others, ...with the hope that a few of you would post your favorite customizations too. Please include your site's URL. (Would also welcome comments from Hoop if any of these need adjusting.) Our site: www.rotation.org /*hides # of views and bookmarks on a topic*/ .h-topic-metadata { display: none; } /*makes "Current Visitors" profile pics widget bigger*/...
Sometimes you want to bring widget content onto the Home page of your community, in the left column. This tip is the step-by-step on how to accomplish that! If you've done this in your community, please share your own hints for making it work here too. In this example, we're displaying forum topics, but you can do this same method with other widget content. Go to control panel, under “manage widgets.” Click the Embedded Widgets tab. Click “add embedded widget.” Select “UBB Forum” in the...
How to add an image rotator to your home page banner. We will be using a package called Slick. Slick is fully compatible with Crowdstack, can be responsive, and has oodles of fun features, We will be doing a basic setup just to get it installed and working. First, download the files that you need. Go to the Slick website and click Get it now. Click download now and download the zip file to your desktop or downloads folder, whichever you usually use. Once it is downloaded, unzip the zip file.
Hi Brad, On the Survey Settings page, you can set the default permissions for newly created surveys (for who can complete the survey and view the survey results). You do not set the actual Create Survey permission there, however. To control who can Create Surveys, you need to go into the Permissions section of your control panel. Select the Permission Circle that you want to be able to create surveys and then click the Permissions tab. For example, for All Members, that URL is:...
Any member can go to their profile and click "notifications." First they'll see the delivery mechanisms (email or on-site alert), and then they can click the tab for Primary Notifications to see all of the options for following content and activities on the site. They can just check (or uncheck) those boxes to control what they're following. Each member also can set their default following behavior...in their profile, under Personal Settings, there's a section for "Default Notification...
@Rich Melvin , can you be more specific about what you're missing from the Activity Stream? Is it just the old Activity tab on the member's profile? Is there something else? It's unclear to me what your primary complaint is, so I'm just trying to understand your perspective. I'll also mention that we're working on adding a Posts tab to the member profile this week, as I announced here . @Plance , you may be happy to hear about this, as well.
@Brian Lenz , I, and our forum, will be happy if the new Posts tab will be as functional and we can copy/paste it into future posts as live links to members' valued content as we could before. Thank you for your response!
Hi Margarita, yes they were released, and you can see the new "surveys" tab on your site, in the navigation bar. Any old "polls" have been turned into "surveys" and they can be found under that tab now.
No need to manually copy and paste to save your existing discussions, you can install this free Facebook app "Forum for Pages": www.facebook.com/202980683107053 Once installed, click the button "Import existing discussions", this will add all your discussions to the new discussions board.
Thanks for the invitation to Hoop.la. Definitely I will be checking all its features, but I am happy with the way Facebook is. I know discussion forums have an important place in the community management toolbox. But hear I think you are misguiding the readers. Is social strata hosted on a cloud computing strategy platform. Facebook is not doing anything to trouble its users. They are making some changes for the good. There is an app available for saving your discussions, no need to spend...
Thank you both for pointing out the app! That's definitely helpful. Social66, our applications are hosted by us (i.e., they are not installed software). Does that answer your cloud question?
I might be wrong but I think sometime in 1997 there was Ultimate Bulletin Board, Version 3.0 - Beta 2 . We had just started our forum then with you guys.
I'm wondering if it's possible to add a new tab to the menu (ie. we have groups, forums, etc.). We'd like to add a help tab where we can post a few resources for people. How would I go about doing this? Thanks! Heather
Hi @Cissy ! The social integrations are enabled at the top community level in the control panel: Basics > Social Networks. For each social network, you can choose Sign-in, Member Profile Links, and/or Social Feed, depending on what's available to us from that social network (every API is different). If you choose member profile links or social feed as an option, your members will see a prompt banner at the top of their profile the next time they go that page, saying something like,...
This answer assumes you haven't enabled " Digest Mode ." Subgroups have default new member settings for notifications, so you (the admin) can control the default notification behavior in the subgroup (min, medium, or max). Also, similar to the way it works at the top level, members can tweak their own preferences for each subgroup as well. When the member goes to their profile, under Settings > Notifications, there is a tab devoted to subgroups. All notifications will respect the member's...
Hi, there! Yes, you (and your members) can get notifications for subgroups in the same way you do the main site: in your own account, go to Settings>>Notifications, and you'll see a tab for "SubGroup Follows". You can choose which subgroup, and set up your notifications as you wish. Hope that helps! Lori
There are certain menu items in our Crowdstack Top Menu Bar that link off-site, so we would like them to open in a new browser window or tab. The "Edit Menu Item" feature within the admin area does not provide a place to enter the target="_blank" code. I figured out how to do this with some JavaScript, but I had top-level technical help to do it, which might not be available to everyone. If you could incorporate code to provide the means to open a menu link in a new window or tab, similar to...
Members have the ability to adjust their own preferences for each subgroup, in a manner that is analogous to how it operates at the top level. When a member accesses their profile, there is a tab titled "Subgroups" that may be found under the "Settings" menu under "Notifications." slope game
When you block a person, they can no longer invite you to a private message or post to your profile wall. Replies and comments they make will be collapsed/hidden by default. Finally, you'll never receive email notifications about content they create or likes they designate for your content.
Note: if you proceed, you will no longer be following .
