"How to put a widget in the main left column of the homepage" was one of the first questions I asked Hoop about during Beta, and I have seen many others ask the same question since. Answer: you can't put real widgets there. But I did figure out how to 'fake' one there --which also has the side option of creating 3 columns, if you like that sort of thing. Why? We like the idea of more custom content in the Main Left Column (aka " MLC "), and less of the preset content blocks feeding...
Hey Stack! We know there is a lot of collected wisdom here, and we wanted to open up a space for talking less formally, sharing community management strategies, and helping each other with day-to-day community questions that may or may not be related to Crowdstack itself. Some of you have been doing this for 10+ years! Our team will use this forum to share quick announcements from time to time, sneak peeks, and other info. Feel free to introduce yourself if you like, ask for help with...
None! We get one of those horrible 10 minute meetings around a white board every morning at 10.30 There is a stupid name for them but I forget what it is. Pace setter or Lean I think) Gahhh performance indicators, targets, "The 3 C's" (don't ask) H & E considerations. Issues. and AOB. all while standing looking at a board with so many figures on they lose their purpose. Predicted hours of work / actual hours worked. Priorities.... All spouted off parrot fashion. You walk away back to...
In our next major update (likely to be released sometime next week), we'll be removing support for the "activity stream" as both a destination page and widget. We're making this change because the Activity Stream is one of the most underused features in the platform, yet it happens to be one of the most complicated ones to maintain, since nearly every action ties into it in some way. In our research of active Crowdstacks, many had disabled the feature entirely. We are still supporting the...
No, too much stuff in moderation. It would clutter it up. (Neil is a heavy poster). How about changing the terminology to something less creepy. Does FB have a monopoly on "friends?" Could call us "fans." (Though "fanning someone" sounds weird.) -- Carol
At the moment we are fighting an employer who wants to change the agreed severance plans so anyone made redundant is likely to get at least a third less. Plus reduced pension plans. All in the background of politicians who are mouthing off about grabbing back money lost by bankers folly by reducing the number of Civil Servants. The two kind of fit together don't they. It's not easy to be a yes person with a knife at your throat. The yes factor does not apply here. Leave it for the bankers...
Hi Ted, I'm guessing this is not possible, but it would be great if we could use Circles to apply the GDPR settings only to members to whom it applies. As it stands, we're telling clients in Europe that they will have to drop membership if they want these features, because we are not willing to enable these restrictions for everyone when less than 1% of our clients are in Europe. If we had the ability to have a Europe Circle, and only enable this for them, that would be ideal. Thanks, Mary
Good evening, The REM value is derived from the "Base Font Size" setting defined within your theme: CP -> Design -> Standard Themes If you edit your theme you will see the setting in the "Fonts" section. Consider a REM value a multiplier of that value. So if you have a "Base Font Size" of 16px, and you want to target a element to use a 12px font size you would set the REM value to 0.75rem. That is 16px * 0.75 = 12px. I think I can sense what you are thinking: "But Jonmark, why wouldn't...
Can I get an "amen"?! I quit Facebook quite a while ago, mostly over privacy concerns. But, I was definitely spending more time online in less meaningful ways, and who has time to spend doing meaningless things?
Think of RAID this way: You have a 3 disk drive RAID array. Using your vinyl record example, we'll consider each vinyl record on it's own LP player as a disk drive. Now our records can only be played at single speed, i.e.: audio speed. That's what we call the RPM, or the speed of the spindle. This means for a 6 minute song, if we stored it on one of our records, it would take us 6 minutes to listen to the entire song. It is not possible for us to play it any faster. The limitation of our...
Thanks Rosemary. I like the image of FB as a "feeder outpost." That's how we use it, though as a "Page" instead of a "Group." In our experience, having a "page" on FB is even less of an outpost than it used to be. Over the last two or three years, we've seen them severely limit the amount of "organic" (unpaid) "reach." New posts to our Page used to get seen by half of our followers on FB, but now we're lucky to get 20% reach into the newsfeeds of those who ASKED to follow us. Reason: FB...
Thanks ROSEMARY! re: Noodling... yes! I have a volunteer who is going to "dig for hidden treasures" on our site to bring them to people's attention. Our site has a lot of good older content, and such things can easily get buried. What I WISH was that there was some way to "mark" certain posts and topics so that they would appear in a custom content stream to only displayed those marked items. Another way to "sort of" do this is to create a topic dedicated to displaying links to "highlights...
Many of the "best of" are only posts, not the full topic. ☹️ Given the varied nature of this beast, looks like we have to post links manually via a custom HTML block, ...unless they ever decide to make the extract feature less "extracty." so that it preserves links and bulletin. And sorry for posting this in the "Discussions" area and not posting this in the Support area.
Ah, ok. We'll just consider this another "vote" for less extracty extracts then. No worries about posting over here, maybe someone else will weigh in with a brilliant workaround!
Thanks for making these changes. Please also look at your font colors on Crowdstack's pages as an "accessibility issue." Links in "light" blue are harder to read for some of us. It may be a screen or eyesight issue or BOTH but it's something I always notice when I'm on sites (like Crowdstack) which use pale palettes. (May I suggest you switch the two "blues" you use in links on Crowdstack. Use the lighter one for the hover color, and the slightly darker blue for the link's static state). I...
I have been able to figure out of couple of odd layout issues created by the site widening, but this one has me stumped (and may only be something Crowdstack can adjust). I haven't been able to figure out how to get IMAGES to automatically fill the width of a posting window when attaching them to a post. The images in question are wider than 600 pixels, but when I attach them and check "insert...large" they only display at 600px, which is less than the width of the posting window. Whereas,...
When you block a person, they can no longer invite you to a private message or post to your profile wall. Replies and comments they make will be collapsed/hidden by default. Finally, you'll never receive email notifications about content they create or likes they designate for your content.
