Want to add breadcrumbs to the mobile view for your site? We've come up with some custom CSS (thanks, @Brian Lenz!) that you can use to show the "closest" two levels of the forum breadcrumbs on mobile devices. You would insert this CSS in the the Custom CSS field in your Display Settings: .breadcrumbs-wrapper.hide-for-small-only { display: inherit !important; } @media only screen and (max-width: 40.0625em) { .h-page-for-FORUM nav.breadcrumbs li.breadcrumb { display: none; }...
It's been a while since I shared a "fun with Recipes" tip. This one is useful if you have more than one admin or moderator, and want to keep share why you banned (or unbanned) a specific member. To set up this Recipe: 1. Go into your control panel and click Basics > Recipes. 2. Click "Build Custom Recipe." 3. Give it a name, like "Add Member Note When Banning." 4. For Trigger, choose "Member Banned." 5. For Action(s) to Take, choose "Add Member Note." You'll notice that you can insert an...
Minor observation. Forum topics listing pages don't pick up formatting used on replies such as pale text color used to hide spoilers. Assuming that the default of the latest 3 replies is used, this can be dealt with by posting dummy replies after the reply which has used the formatting. I'll demonstrate this by posting such a reply on this topic. The Discussion listing page will show the text that I've formatted in the following reply. I will, once this has been approved.
I would like to suggest that the Alert Bells in the Alerts section do not disappear until you have accessed the specific alert. Currently all the Unread indicators (Bells) disappear when you access the Alerts list but not necessarily access the actual alert itself. I would also like to see the numeric indicator in the top nav show the actual number of unread Alerts. This number would tick down by 1 every time you accessed an unread alert. Currently the numeric indicator disappears after the...
In my automated messages, I often greet members by their username (in the email salutation), but your system automatically links their user name to their member profile and thus gives their name the default link color, which is a different color than the rest of the email text. This makes the email look more like a form letter than I would like (as if I just filled in a blank with their name). Of course, this is precisely what happens, but I would like their names not to look so obviously...
We saw the article and wanted to salute you! My husband and i are the owners of ZenSpot, Inc. in Eugene, Oregon. www.zenspotmbs.com and the hosts of ZenSpot Radio on 1320AM in Eugene or www.1320inforadio.com . We have begun a Healthy Leadership Project that we would love for you to be part of. Might you be interested in coming on our live show? We air Fridays from 3-4PM. We'd love to interview you as part of our Healthy Leadership campaign. Let me know if you are interested. We'd love to...
Good morning Paul, Glad you like the calendar changes, we are very excited about them here as well. The reason that the sub menu item does not respond to a users permissions is that its a custom menu item. Custom menu items cannot be hidden or shown by Hoop.la based on a users access to the web page that they link to. The "Calendar" built in menu item will show or hide based on a user's ability to view at least one calendar on your site. Hope this helps, Jonmark
If I understand correctly, then, we could remove the current calendar listing we have, implement a "calendar" item on the menu line, and it would then show or not, depending on user permission? That would work for us... __________________________________________________________________________________
Thanks! This is great. I'll let the team at ACEs Connection know. I've been curious for awhile about the ability to have a "title image" for the purpose of social media sharing but that doesn't show at the top of the post. Is this something that could be in the works? Thanks!
HI @ST , We only show publicly viewable circles to regular users. If the circle is marked as Viewable By Super Admins Only (the default), then only Super Admins will be able to see the circle. Thus, this shouldn't be an issue unless you've unchecked that option on the circles to make the circle visible. Does that help? Brian
Hi, Brian: I see the check box when configuring circles at the site level. Of course, all of this is more convoluted for me because we are using groups in an unconventional way. So when I looked at configuring circles at the group level, there is no checkbox for VIewable By Super Admins Only (I thought you'd get a chuckle out of this one). After poking around a bit with a couple of my dummy accounts, it looks like the Viewable By Super Admins Only default applies to group level circles by...
@ST , yep, that's correct. Hoop.la won't show group circles publicly; the feature Ted described only applies to circles on the main site, not in groups.
Hi, I'm especially excited about the photo change. Thanks! I did, though, have two questions about the personalized activity stream. I had an activity stream on my home page (Member Milestones and More!), but I don't see a way to personalize it (see screen shot below). Why not? And, two, I don't understand this comment, "In addition, there is a new Personal Activity Stream page available whenever the Activity Stream is enabled for your site." (1) How do you enable the Activity Stream (I...
On a related note, it would be great if the Recent Post widget displayed a link to "See More Recent Posts" (than what you set to appear in the widget). The old display posts/replies feature had a "display all" link and it was very handy. Currently, you preset the widget to display a fixed number of posts (up to 50), but invariably our leaders are looking for something that posted "a few days ago" and it has scrolled off the "show last 10" setting we have for that widget. (Yes, we could...
Hi there, I'd loved to have been there too. Sounds like there was some amazing stuff there. And yes, Julie. The parents met a grizzly end. Great story though.
Thank you Julie...I was hurting my brain trying to come up with the name of the story. Hopefully we all won't get eaten once we have our virtual walls and furniture. The LG thin TV weighs about 8.8 pounds. It was pretty jaw-dropping.
Maybe it's a European/ American difference Ted, but a *yes man* over here is someone to be avoided at all costs. No thoughts of their own , and a people pleaser extraordinaire . Someone more to be pitied than laughed at really " Vive la difference."........Sorry my computer can't do accents. I caught this by good luck, because I never check the blogs ( due to all the twitter carp)
And, for those who'd like to hear from the Queen of Community herself, Rosemary O'Neill, take a listen to this podcast! She is our featured guest, and she knows a thing or two. http://getheartmarketing.com/w...-la-with-rhogroupee/
Hi @Cissy ! The social integrations are enabled at the top community level in the control panel: Basics > Social Networks. For each social network, you can choose Sign-in, Member Profile Links, and/or Social Feed, depending on what's available to us from that social network (every API is different). If you choose member profile links or social feed as an option, your members will see a prompt banner at the top of their profile the next time they go that page, saying something like,...
Hi Neil, I do not have a way to constrain the size of it. With today's hot fix it will no longer show on medium and small screens where space is at a premium, but I do not have a way to restrict the width. With it we can only do show or not show.
Hi Neil! The Content Stream content block brings in all new content (including topics, blog posts, clips, etc.). The general scope is just a feed of everything, without regard to the logged in user who's viewing it. The "personalized" scope will display a feed that's specific to the person viewing it (so it will show things you're following). Personalized version looks different to every person viewing it. If there's a specific post (blog post?) you want to highlight on your home page in a...
Hey @Bradley Blinn ! I hope others will chime in here with their ideas too. The current customer sites I've seen using the feature are private, so I can't link to them here. We don't have an open demo to show off the databases feature, but if you (or any other customer) want to get a walkthrough, just let me know and I'm happy to set that up for you. We could also brainstorm some ideas specific to your community if you like!
When you block a person, they can no longer invite you to a private message or post to your profile wall. Replies and comments they make will be collapsed/hidden by default. Finally, you'll never receive email notifications about content they create or likes they designate for your content.
Note: if you proceed, you will no longer be following .
