Today I discovered that all the various Clips posted to our Hoopla site were being marked as Premium Content. I didn't originally set it up that way, but somewhere along the line it got changed. It is our intent that all clips should be viewable by everyone. When I un-checked the box to "Mark All Clips As Premium" it didn't do what I expected it to do. The message box said that all existing clips would remain as Premium Content and all future clips would have the OPTION to be marked as...
the Clips list shows the available clips in rectangle boxes with a photo preview. Is it possible to change that to a list. One of the main uses of peacecorpskorea.com is to archive the 4000 + photos, books, videos, music we collected from the 15 year period that Peace Corps was in Korea (1966-1981). the ability to have a list, would improve the ability to navigate. Any ideas? ps, I ate some carrots before writing this but still could not find a way to change it. As...
Great stuff. One question: In the Activity Point formula, there's a reference to points earned for the author having a post on a support topic "marked as best answer." Can one enable this "best answer" feature in their own community forums? If so, how? I can't seem to locate this option on Hoop.la. Thanks.
Just to clarify what Jonmark said... the "mark as best answer" action is a feature in QuestionShark, our customer support product/module. Thus, sites that do not have QuestionShark enabled will never have that option available.
"The clips you posted must be approved by our administrators first. Once approved, it will be posted to our site." I posted them. I'm a super administrator on my site. Why am I getting this message? Where do I go to 'approve' these?
How do I remove the option for all member to post clips? I want to restrict that to members of a permission circle. That is - I want to remove the Clips option from the POST button. It's okay for all member to include pictures and audio within a post. How do I do this? Thanks! ST
Hi Gary, You'll be happy to know that as part of The Proximity Search Release today, Hoop.la now supports a new "List" view for Clips. You can find it in your control panel under Clips (in Modules). The Clip Format supports a new List option, which is what you were looking for. Hope you like it! Brian
Hi ST, In the Permissions area, if you click on the "General" tab, you should see at the top of the list the permission to "post clips." If you click Update there, you can restrict that permission just to specific permission circle(s). Please let me know if that doesn't do the trick!
Hi Lori, It's too early in the day for me. I don't see a permission "post clips". I DO want All Members to be able to upload pictures as attachments to posts. I don't want them to POST to Clips. Here's what I'm seeing in /cp/permissions/general and /g/portable/cp/permissions/general What am I missing? Thanks, ST
Argh, sorry ST! (I obviously needed my own second cup of coffee too). The "post clips" permission is rolling out this week, and I was looking at a testing version when I answered your question. The current behavior is that the clip posting is tied to the permission to upload attachments (as you're seeing). Hang tight this week, and it will work the way I described above (you will also be able to tie permissions to clip sets as well).
Hi Lori, Whew, that's a relief. The migration has been tumultuous and as you'd expect I've spent a lot of time bouncing around in the Control Panels at the top level and for groups. Sometimes I think what I'm looking for MUST be there and I'm just not seeing it. I'm looking forward to the new feature. In the meantime - is there a way to disable clips without turning off the ability to upload pictures? I've removed it from the main and groups menus, but it still pops up under the POST button. ST
Hi, Rich: In the Manage Content section of the control panel, search for All Clips, and check the box that says "Premium Content Only". Once you have the search results, select all of them, and then choose "Mark As Not Premium" from the dropdown menu at the bottom. That should do the trick! Lori
LOL hopefully things will level out soon and you can take a breath! To disable the Clips module completely, go into the Structure area of the control panel and uncheck the Clips box. When you hit the "update" button at the bottom, Clips will be turned off, but the ability to attach files and include media in posts won't be disabled.
Hi ST, You'll be happy to know that with The Sets and Collections Release today, you can now independently set permissions for posting clips and uploading attachments. Previously, the permissions were coupled via the Upload permissions. Now, in order to post clips, you must have both the new Post Clips permission and the corresponding upload permission for the type of file to upload. Similarly, in order to upload attachments, you need to have both the new Upload Attachments permission and...
Hi, Emma: You can change that in your Wordlets (in your control panel, it's in the Design section). Just search for the word you want to change, and you'll get search results to include all of the uses of the word. Change it to the word you prefer to use, and then save your changes. Hope that helps! Lori
Hi Lori, We changed our Wordlets so that everywhere that previously said 'clips' would say 'resources' but there are still some places where the word 'clips' appears (e.g. it still says 'clips' in the drop down from the green Post button). Is there any way to change this? Thanks, Emma
Hi, Emma: I think the issue is that you searched for "clips" not "clip". If you search for the singular, you'll find a bunch of other references that you might want to change, including the post dropdown. Lori
Great! This should be a huge improvement. Question: Are there any restrictions on the geo search, or is it expected to work properly in all parts of the world (provided people have entered a viable postal code)? Asking because my community is very international and I'd like to fully introduce these features in a post. Thanks.
