We've rolled out a software update for Hoop.la, UBB Forum, and QuestionShark today that adds the following new features:

1.  Auto-Close Feature

Each major content module (blogs, forums, clips, calendar, etc.) now has an "auto-close" feature that allows admins to automatically close (in terms of new comments/replies) content that has had no activity after a period of time that they designate (14, 30, 60, 90, or 120 days).

For QuestionShark, this feature extends to marking actionable topics as completed, as well.

2.  Change Content Author

Admins can now change the author of a piece of content.  Just edit the content and you'll notice a new "Author" section on the right side.  When you click on "change", you'll be able to search for your new content author by name or email, with matches displayed inline.

3.  Code Above Sign-In Bar

We've added a new Display Setting called "Custom Code Above Sign In Bar".  Any code you add here will be displayed at the very top of your site pages, ABOVE the sign in bar.

4. Announcements -> News Flash

We've renamed the existing "Announcements" feature "News Flash".  This is just to avoid confusion with QuestionShark's "announcements" topic type.

There were numerous other minor tweaks, bug fixes, and improvements, as well.

I'm delighted the auto-close feature has arrived as it's something that's been at the top of the wish list for some time.  However, I think there's a problem. I enabled auto-close for posts with no activity after 30 days.  what has happened is that it has closed every single topic in the forum.  Unchecking the box has not re-opened them.  So...  I now have many hours of going through and opening up each thread manually.  Not very happy about that.  Is this a bug and is there a way of opening up the topics en masse in the meantime?

Thanks, Richard

Yeah but maybe I'm an anomaly.   So, I have trading post type forums... having those auto lock after X period of time would be a great way to weed out stuff that's just not relevant anymore.  Whereas the other forums, it's cool with me if people bring up old threads and ask questions on them as they are just for typical conversations.

Additionally... just thought of this... is there a way to automatically filter out stuffed that's locked?

Thanks!  Hope you are well!
