I've had to perform one execution as a moderator and I've never regretted the decision, though with different tools and more experience I might have been able to find a better way (though I still doubt it). The video is before I had set up premium memberships and more focuses on things that I had learned about bringing new members to the site in only a couple of months and keeping them engaged. I've since set it up and do have maybe 5 paying members currently (at the standard annual rate) but I really operate the site for the love of sharing my interests with others and learning from one another...

Blog Post CommentI know this is old but it caught my eye (well both of them actually. My take on this is, you do indeed tread a fine line between creating the right kind of platform for a community. Engaging them in the creation is one way. Allowing people to have their input is very good but everyone has a different opinion so you have to start with an adaptive base. The big question is how do you get them in the first place? Of the millions of people out there who do you reach out to with your invites. I...
