Hi Helela- You would have been sent an email about your beta site well over a month ago, so you may want to check your email (perhaps check you email spam folder, as well). If you cannot find it, then please submit a support ticket for assistance: https://hey.crowdstack.com/support/post-topic Thanks!

Hi Richard- We emailed everyone about the time frame for each site. Yours will be upgraded today, sometime between 11 AM - 9 PM Eastern Time US. And there will be some downtime for your site when the upgrade happens. Please refer to the email we sent you a couple of weeks ago for specific details for your site. Or, if you have specific questions, please post to our support area here: https://hey.crowdstack.com/support Thanks!

Wow the page views is a wonderful addition, thank you so much. Is this tallying ONLY those who click and read at the website and NOT those who read it via email?
  • Blog Post Comment
The page views will increment when a user views a topic/blog/clip via the website (standard or mobile). We do not track page views for users viewing the a post via email notification.

Hi Brad, On the Survey Settings page, you can set the default permissions for newly created surveys (for who can complete the survey and view the survey results). You do not set the actual Create Survey permission there, however. To control who can Create Surveys, you need to go into the Permissions section of your control panel. Select the Permission Circle that you want to be able to create surveys and then click the Permissions tab. For example, for All Members, that URL is:...

Thanks for this. I am trying to incorporate this into my community. I find I am missing a lot of the content that my members are adding. I have all of my email notifications on and I follow a large number of my members, yet I don't see when they comment or post until I happen upon it in my other engagement. Is there a way to make this easier? And, what do you recommend as a way to aggregate the content being added for the purpose of sending a weekly update/email "Weekly Roundup" kind of message?
  • Blog Post Comment
Hi Chrissanne, For your notifications, you might want to double check that your "comments/replies" notifications are turned on, in addition to the primary content ones. To gather up your latest content for a weekly update, the easiest way would be to go to your control panel, under Manage Content, and do a search by date. Make sure that you tick the box that says "include comments/replies." That will give you a list that you can work with. Then for the email, you can incorporate quotes with...

Any member can go to their profile and click "notifications." First they'll see the delivery mechanisms (email or on-site alert), and then they can click the tab for Primary Notifications to see all of the options for following content and activities on the site. They can just check (or uncheck) those boxes to control what they're following. Each member also can set their default following behavior...in their profile, under Personal Settings, there's a section for "Default Notification...

Hi Gail, for the beta sites, only the SuperAdmin account is recognized, so you need to login with that account (you can have the SuperAdmin set up a fresh password when you're done). If you need more help with this, please email [email protected] and we can troubleshoot with you.

Thanks for your comments, James. I don't disagree that Facebook has potential to serve a purpose for keeping in touch. My experience has been that while it has that potential, it doesn't typically play out in practice. I typically have used email/IM for those types of "light" contact, instead. I think that Hoop.la has a lot of the tools that are needed to enable networking and community in an effective way. If you haven't already, I'd recommend you check it out (you can set up a free site to...

That was a generous offer in my email Rosemary, of "one of the coolest, most challenging jobs on earth".(In the email that was sent to everyone who has a watch on Social Strata I would guess). Not sure I can fit in the post of 'community manager' in as I am a full time grandparent these days and looking after my kids is far and away more preferable than a similar job on the UK Big Brother forum.......... Good luck though

Thanks JC, we'll look into that bug... Little did I know that the way I chose to start this blog entry would confuse so many people! Sorry about that... We're also dealing with a possible notification glitch that sent email notices to a much larger group than it should have. If you received the email notice of this post and didn't want it, we apologize!

This gave me a lot to think about - thanks Rosemary! My problem is that I am looking for something specific.... farmers and gardeners that are from Vermont. But, figuring that any exposure is good exposure, I created a Squidoo lense that's a near copy of a blog post I made as well as created a new board on Pinterest (I love Pinterest anyway so this comes easy). I like to troll the VT Craigslist for new members (Farm and Garden section) and have also posted to the online bulletin board of...

You do all that before feeding those kiddies? And you cook! If I am honest It is the Small business feel that attracts me to LiveCloud. Some of the Faceless options out there just turn me off. So from my point of view your "recipe" is very tasty. I would love to know how you manage your Email in box...

LOL, but breakfast is usually something "instant." It makes everything so much more fun when we get to know our customers and they become friends. Makes me want to get up at 6am When are you coming back to visit us in the States again? I use my email inbox as a "to do" list. First run through and delete all of the spam (even with filtering, there's a lot). Then respond to the quick items, then go top to bottom for the longer responses. Then read the blogs, deleting the ones I don't need to...

No, I wasn't blocked. I just noticed that in the past if I signed up as a new member under my IP address on my hoop.la site using a different email address as a test member, I could not send a dialog to that test member & I attributed that to having the same IP since I was also the Admin because the system shows the registration IP & the last IP used to login. If the system however is not wired to see that as a conflict, then something else was blocking my ability to receive a dialog...

Hey Danny! I just thought I'd pipe in on this as I got the email notification that you'd responded. The video is before I had set up premium memberships and more focuses on things that I had learned about bringing new members to the site in only a couple of months and keeping them engaged. I've since set it up and do have maybe 5 paying members currently (at the standard annual rate) but I really operate the site for the love of sharing my interests with others and learning from one another...

Is there a recipe for what we deal with? I have posting from email on. Our forum email gets heaps of spam. Hoop.la treats each spam email like a new member trying to register. The post is in the moderation queue so at least nobody sees the spam. But I wish that we could allow "posting via email" but auto decline any registration that appears to come from a first email. Any recipe for that? That would save me daily time in manually declining obvious spammers. Thanks.

Hi Deb- Your scenario is not supported in that we would need to have a condition that checks to see if the content is submitted by email. I think that is a great idea, though, so we will consider adding that for a future release. Once we support that, you can just create a 'moderate content' recipe and set a condition for content posted by email. You may want to post this as an idea in our support site , if you want to be notified when that is added a feature.

I sure wish you would send emails to all the admins of your various Hoopla sites when you do a new release! I have had complaints all day about our members not getting email alerts like they used to. I was not aware that anything had changed! We need to know when these releases are published via another method than just a blog post here. I am now following this Blog, which may help. But a specific email alert about things like this would be VERY helpful.

Hi @Rich Melvin , I would recommend (as it sounds like you've done) that you subscribe to all new blog posts on this site if you'd like to keep abreast of new releases. We don't send out separate emails to site administrators currently to avoid duplication since many customers already follow the blog. To confirm you set it up properly: you can set that up on your Primary Notifications settings here: just enable Instant Notification for New Blog Posts . As far as the specific issue your...

Hi @Lynda ! We aren't currently planning on making any changes to the notification system in Hoop.la as part of the upcoming GDPR changes. I'm not aware of any specific requirements in GDPR related to email delivery or opt-in. Here's the list of the key changes being introduced by GDPR: https://www.eugdpr.org/key-changes.html Hope that helps!
  • Blog Post Comment
@Lynda , I don't see GDPR as being related to CAN-SPAM. GDPR deals with privacy and processing of personal data. Part of that is the consent provision you mentioned, but that's about consent to collection of personal data, not specifically related to communications/email. With the GDPR updates to Hoop.la, you will have the ability to put a description (optionally) on any profile field so that you can give clear purpose as to why each field is being collected. You're right that there is no...

@Brian Lenz Actually GDPR is the exact opposite of CAN-SPAM; it's not related at all! We've been following CAN-spam using what you describe below as our guidepost but I've sat in on sessions with attorneys who are saying we need to get explicit opt-in from people in order to email them with GDPR if we are collecting their data. Our CRM has offered an automatic feature to comply with this requirement, that is why I am asking. And it's due to the consent provision of GDPR. I can DM you the...

I see, @Lynda . We currently don't have any plans to add such a tool, as we aren't aware of GDPR requirements relating to email communication. We can certainly discuss a possible customization if that's of interest to you. Perhaps we should take this conversation to our support channel so we can discuss options, customizations, etc. in private.

Thanks Rosemary. I like the image of FB as a "feeder outpost." That's how we use it, though as a "Page" instead of a "Group." In our experience, having a "page" on FB is even less of an outpost than it used to be. Over the last two or three years, we've seen them severely limit the amount of "organic" (unpaid) "reach." New posts to our Page used to get seen by half of our followers on FB, but now we're lucky to get 20% reach into the newsfeeds of those who ASKED to follow us. Reason: FB...

Good tips about reaching out to first-responders. Any thoughts on GETTING people to post their first post? Our board is not a "chatty" board, rather, people are expected to contribute ideas. We also don't see many people using the "Like" response feature either. Assuming our content is likable what else can we do to increase engagement? I have good members who will email me their content, and when I ask them why they didn't post it I can read between the lines that they are afraid of looking...
