Hi Pearl, The custom HTML field is where you put the contents of your custom page. This field is required, as there's no point to having a custom page without any content on it You don't need to worry about putting any custom CSS or theme settings in that box. Does that help? Brian

Great stuff. One question: In the Activity Point formula, there's a reference to points earned for the author having a post on a support topic "marked as best answer." Can one enable this "best answer" feature in their own community forums? If so, how? I can't seem to locate this option on Hoop.la. Thanks.

Thanks Rosemary for the tips. I especially like the Survey idea. Once upon a time, we used them to actually "survey" members about issues/ideas, but now I see that it's also a good idea to provide a point of easy-engagement. Update: We just posted a single survey question and got over a hundred engagements in the first two days One thing we've tried to do is assign "monitoring and response" duties to various members of our admin/moderator group so that every post gets responded to. These...

Hi @neil ! If a premium member deactivates their account, their premium membership will simply have auto-renew canceled (if it's not already). That way, if they decide to come back and reactivate their account, their premium membership will still be active if it hasn't yet expired. When a premium member chooses to delete their own account, the premium membership is terminated immediately and no refund is given. Both of these implications are made clear to the member when deactivating or...

@Rich Melvin While I appreciate your appreciation, Rich, my reading of various posts from Julie, Plance, and you at OGR suggest that y'all are using the A.S. differently than we do (used to). Seems like you folks want some of the A.S.' functionality on User Profile Pages, whereas we liked it as a look-see widget on our homepage and embedded on a custom page. My eulogy doesn't mention your User Profile functions. That said, yes, I would love to see the "activity" publicly visible...

Hi, Derek! You can create an Automation Rule that comps them a Premium Membership based on their response to a profile field: 1. In Automation Rules, add a new Rule, and give it a name ("Comp Premium Membership for Retired Members", for instance). 2. The Trigger will be "Member Registers". 3. For Condition, choose Profile File Field Value, and then scroll to the appropriate listed field (you can choose more than one value, so here's your chance to choose both "Retired" and "Disabled" if...

Hi Slaz- Yes, indeed. The whole point of the staging area will be to allow you to create/test themes and custom CSS on the responsive platform prior to actually moving your site onto it.

I totally agree with each point of Rosemary. Limited knowledge of things can spoil us. It is better to read widely and try to find out the best you want from it. Our own analysis of things will help us to take a final decision. I'm planning to start a social website on a vCloud Connector server, could you please suggest the positives. Different writers put forward different opinion; some prefers to write only positive but some are totally opposite and only born to think negative. It creates...

You do all that before feeding those kiddies? And you cook! If I am honest It is the Small business feel that attracts me to LiveCloud. Some of the Faceless options out there just turn me off. So from my point of view your "recipe" is very tasty. I would love to know how you manage your Email in box...

Community building is a challenge for many...whether you're a blogger or apparently a chicken farmerette. It's been suggested to me I'm a natural at building community; not exactly sure why...perhaps the natural ebullience? HEH. Had to use that word. I like this post. Short and to the point.

Mentions will be of good use, and is a more efficient way to address someone directly in a mass discussion then traditional 'quoting' which basically just copies text and formats it in a block. Also, usernames in profile URL's are pretty significant for search engines. As people are searching on these names and so your community may pop up in even more searches as long as that username is a big name in a respective community. This is also why Google, Facebook, and Twitter started supporting...

It would also be nice if you could mention content. Like if I want to point someone to another post, blog or really anything. it is like a fast search.

I'm trying to figure out where to put this CSS. I asked about adding badges to title names and I got this response and link to this article. I somehow got to Automation Rules, then creating a rule for Activity Milestones using triggers, but I don't see where to add CSS. Can you point me to where I can do this so it can be based off of points or triggers? Thanks!

Ok, interesting idea....I've got a couple of possible solutions. 1. Create a "Best of" forum (and don't allow regular members to post or comment in it). Move your "best" topics to that forum. Create a Content Block for that forum and put it on the home page. 2. Create a Custom HTML content block (one time) that contains 3-5 bullet point links and nicely formatted text paragraph (or sentence). On a weekly, monthly, or other basis, just replace the links and paragraphs with the new topics you...

Hi @ANON_BM - you are welcome to stay on the current model. We can't have the two systems co-exist because a major part of the change is simplification of the notification settings for members. There would be no simplification at all if they were to co-exist... in fact, it would be more complex. @Mark Neal - Yes, you will be able to subscribe to ALL posts across the entire Crowdstack site. That will be a new option... the key point being that you cannot slice and dice that by content type.
