Ahhh now you caught my eye.. It all began for me with a mysterious invitation found while surfing the net. Something called Groupee (they could not even spell it right ) It was an invitation to put your name down for future participation in a new socialising medium. Some chap called Ted O'Neill sent a message back saying they were not ready yet but would be in touch. I forgot about it till they got in touch.. "Oh yeah that"... I for a penny in for a pound. Or is that Cent and Dollar? So it...

I LOVE the idea of this Rosemary ... but I really can't see it taking off in the UK? I know that sounds a bit negative ... but I just don't think we are brave enough to try it!! Interesting that you mention Best Busy ... I recall a story about them a while ago where they were recruiting, and one of the criteria was that the applicant had to have 250 followers on Twitter. I'd love to read your opinion on that

LOL thanks Rexi! You guys already have some mandates about paid leave time anyway, right? I hadn't heard about Best Buy's recruiting concept regarding Twitter. Sounds like something that might have been a good idea to help evaluate whether the candidate is "social" or not, but that's kind of a random metric to pluck out of thin air. With all of the auto-followers and schemes out there, number of Twitter followers is too easy to game. If I wanted to hire "socially engaged" employees (and I...

Not right now, but as I was writing this post I realized that would be a cool idea...want to go suggest it at https://hey.crowdstack.com/support ? That way we can get it voted up

Ted, I copied and pasted your code and it worked perfectly. Thx. Might you be willing to provide the code for when you are within a forum and its displaying the list of topics? The above code doesn't work on this page and I have no idea how to write the CSS to target this

Great idea, Bradley! I'll convert this to a tip so that it's properly classified Suggestions are generally intended for suggestions to us (Social Strata) about improvements the platform whereas tips for generally intended for community managers and customers using the platform. Thanks! Brian

Hi Robert- We have no current plans for a quiz feature, but if that is of interest to you I'd suggest posting your idea(s) as a suggestion to our support site , so that we can consider it for a future release. I can see how that would be cool.

Hi Chrissanne, For your notifications, you might want to double check that your "comments/replies" notifications are turned on, in addition to the primary content ones. To gather up your latest content for a weekly update, the easiest way would be to go to your control panel, under Manage Content, and do a search by date. Make sure that you tick the box that says "include comments/replies." That will give you a list that you can work with. Then for the email, you can incorporate quotes with...

Thanks Rosemary for the tips. I especially like the Survey idea. Once upon a time, we used them to actually "survey" members about issues/ideas, but now I see that it's also a good idea to provide a point of easy-engagement. Update: We just posted a single survey question and got over a hundred engagements in the first two days One thing we've tried to do is assign "monitoring and response" duties to various members of our admin/moderator group so that every post gets responded to. These...

Hi, DBenoit. Thanks for giving us some more information about you and your goals in your profile . From your profile What's your community's big goal? The goal of this community is to foster the exchange of experiences, issues, information, and inspiration toward overcoming personal health challenges in the hunting and fishing communities. Have you found any places (physical or virtual) where like-minded people congregate? I'm picking up on Rosemary's thoughts about brick and mortar...

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this idea as a truck driver. My NDA with my employer prohibits me from giving more details as to why.

I notice my off the cuff comment got a quote in the Seattle PI. I like the reply- "3 day work weeks? Why would it matter so long as they accomplish the goals their boss set for them. Why would it matter if they did it in 5 days vice 3? So they work quicker, and so long as their superiors are satisfied with the quality then seems to me they earned that 3day work week." A good response and in some ways a workable one. However every business needs staff available at all times so there would...

Hi @MHK@CS2 , there's currently no way to set permissions up or use recipes as you've described. I'm not a lawyer, but I'm not even sure that approach would work from a GDPR perspective. You would technically need to identify members by first collecting some information about them in order to determine whether to give them the "GDPR treatment" or not. I'm not sure that would pass muster. It's definitely an interesting idea, so you could always suggest it separately in the support section of...

Thanks everyone! April, I like your idea of the tan-progression series...we definitely do not look like we belong in Seattle now. I'm sad to announce that the tops of my feet have peeled now, and just look scaly instead of tan. The cloud never formed a true tornado, but we heard later that two semis were blown off the road that afternoon, and there were funnel clouds in the area. We got really lucky. Incidentally, in case I haven't mentioned it before, the BEST blog about iPads is...

I love this system of being able to give feedback. I love feeling insidery. I've had a couple of sites that have been really important to me and have been wonderful in so many ways, but with both of them I felt like I was shouting into the wind when I wanted to have some input into what I needed. Even though I haven't been here long enough to see a suggestion of mine come to fruition, I'm still getting feedback on whether you guys think it's a good idea, and if so, then at least letting me...

I think there's still a place for a little bit of Stalin. Ok, maybe not in the arena of criticism, and some controversy is always going to happen. I've had to perform one execution as a moderator and I've never regretted the decision, though with different tools and more experience I might have been able to find a better way (though I still doubt it). Other than that, I guess I'm bits of all of these - if I had to pick one, I'm more of a border collie, but without the idea of the "correct"...

Any idea when the Pinterest feature will actually be in place, as would like to announce to my members. Thanks.

Always appreciate your releases but disappointed you've stopped giving them creative names. We implemented your suggested CSS code to suppress the new Post Content button. Our Reason: at our site it would likely invite too many improperly located or duplicate topics. I do like the idea of encouraging posts, however, so I'm wondering about a widget that features the current "hot topic" (as determined by activity/views/whatever) and has a 'reply now' button to catch interest on the home page.

Great idea, Ted! We occasionally have spammers register and then try to promote products that have nothing to do with our site. The posts get reported by other members and we zap 'em, but by using this recipe the posts would never be seen by anyone in the first place. Nice.

Hi Deb- Your scenario is not supported in that we would need to have a condition that checks to see if the content is submitted by email. I think that is a great idea, though, so we will consider adding that for a future release. Once we support that, you can just create a 'moderate content' recipe and set a condition for content posted by email. You may want to post this as an idea in our support site , if you want to be notified when that is added a feature.

Nice idea. Is there a way to upload multiple badges to this same field? I have a situation where people can accumulate more than one honor and it would be nice to be able to accommodate at least 3 badges here.

Will there be any posssibility to mix and match? I like the card idea for our clips, for instance, but want to keep our carefully-curated 'front page' which weights different elements differently.

That would be a good idea - I can't imagine rolling it out if I can't see it first. Thanks.

Thanks ROSEMARY! re: Noodling... yes! I have a volunteer who is going to "dig for hidden treasures" on our site to bring them to people's attention. Our site has a lot of good older content, and such things can easily get buried. What I WISH was that there was some way to "mark" certain posts and topics so that they would appear in a custom content stream to only displayed those marked items. Another way to "sort of" do this is to create a topic dedicated to displaying links to "highlights...

Ok, interesting idea....I've got a couple of possible solutions. 1. Create a "Best of" forum (and don't allow regular members to post or comment in it). Move your "best" topics to that forum. Create a Content Block for that forum and put it on the home page. 2. Create a Custom HTML content block (one time) that contains 3-5 bullet point links and nicely formatted text paragraph (or sentence). On a weekly, monthly, or other basis, just replace the links and paragraphs with the new topics you...

It's a great idea... but our Private Messages don't have the option to 'react' yet. I know this was an idea that both you and Ted said you liked when it was suggested a few months ago. Are you testing the feature and we haven't gotten it yet? Or is that feature something only higher level customers have? btw: I added a checkmark to our emoticons/graemlins to use in messages and posts, but I agree that it would be great if we could REACT to private messages instead of always having to reply...

Thanks @neil , no, we're not secretly testing...that was just me thinking Pips and typing private messages instead. I do still think that's a cool idea.

ANON_BM, you have perfectly described our situation with your truck site analogy. We run a site about model trains. Super cool idea John! Hopefully someone will chime in here...offhand, I like the way that @Paul Heymont at TravelGumbo incorporates the blog with their forums, maybe he could share a little insight. You can definitely copy in text and images to your blog, and organize the posts into "collections" with tags and dates. You can also store your PDFs in the Resource area, and those PDFs are indexed inside Crowdstack's search function (all of the text inside the PDFs). Crowdstack's notifications...
