In the Eve control panel I see Eve Control Panel » Display Settings » Style Editor "Please note that if you are associating this style with emails, it should not contain any javascript. Emails that contain javascript will not render properly." I've just made huge changes to the custom HTML and we now have navigation aids in the sections immediately following the </head> and immediately preceding the closing </body>. Email notifications contain all that html. How do I turn off the...

Hi, I just spoke with my host and they said their server is working fine and that this would be something happening with the "mail" server.  From inside my Infopop/EVE forum using staff@lakewoodbuzz.com I get this error message in Outlook...

The conversation about kids online is an interesting conversation. Sometimes it is tricky to navigate these waters. Do you guys staff an ip lawyers or do you use one from the outside. I would be interested to see how small businesses handle these issues.

Hi, Jason: You can direct your users to their profile, in the Preferences section. Under Profile and Appearance they'll see the checkbox for "Receive Emails from Administrators?" If they uncheck the box (and update the profile), they won't get your emails.

Hi ST- You'll just want to make sure that the style you just created is not associated with emails. You associate styles on the Style Association control panel page. Go to your: Eve Control Panel > Eve > Display > Assignments page. You'll see a page like this: Note the "Email" rows under the Platform, Forums, and Chat sections... those are the rows you want to associate with a style that does not have javascript. Thus, you can either use one of our generic styles or create your own...

Thank you Ted, Sorry it took so long to get back to you. We were in the middle of a total face-lift of the site and there was a lot going on. Yes, this made sense and I was able to make a new Email style and associate that with the "Email" rows. Thank you.

Hello, is there any way to schedule the email to the members similar to the schedule for a blog post? I don't know if there is an option or I'm just not able to find it out.

We've got a couple folks internally who already receive email notifications about reported posts. I need to add another one. I've spent 15 minutes poking around the control panel but can't find it. Help?

We have posting via email turned on, and I would like to keep that on. We also have new memberships moderated and I need to keep that on. The problem is that there are so many scammers that discover our email address. Many times a day, I get moderated support topics from new members. These aren't really new members. These are the spammers showing up as new registrations that I have to moderate. It would be great to have a recipe that says if someone is posting via email and this creates a...

Hi there, With the upgraded Hoop.la I can not find how to add email addresses to Permission Circles as it was in Hoop.la 1.0 . When I add email addresses to "members" window the system tells me I can't do that or continues processing. Am I missing something or does a person have to be a member of the site before they can be added to a permission circle? http://screencast.com/t/vXTpe4yPP4uc Thanks

First, you should attempt to verify that the user is who they say they are. Ask the user to provide you with some of the more obscure information found in their private profile. As an admin, you have the power to create custom fields for the profile, and make them required (or optional). It's a good idea to take advantage of a custom field for security use. If you're still not sure, send an email to the email address on the account to confirm that they would like to change the email address...

Hello Steve, I can't understand what you mean by this - "From inside my Infopop/EVE forum using staff@lakewoodbuzz.com I get this error message in Outlook regarding the downloading of bouncebacks from subscribers in the forum," I can however, tell you that we do not host the email for lakewoodbuzz.com or the actual domain itself. We do host lakewoodbuzz.infopop.cc, but our records indicate that there are no email addresses associated to this site. Email for staff@lakewoodbuzz.com appears to...

Hi Rosemary, Thanks for the COPPA update. Can you call out the cavalry on the eve question shark forum? There are a bunch of us whose entire websites and forums have been down for an hour without response from social strata. Thanks so much.

I think the basic age limit should be raised to 18. Just had a high school senior friend me on Facebook simply because I graduated there 25 years earlier. I seriously doubt that she would really want to hang out with a 43 year old truck driver.

You're welcome Lynda! And the cavalry resolved the issue yesterday...I'm looking to improve our outward communications when things like that happen; we'd like to be much more proactive than we were yesterday, and I'm sorry for that. Harold, I might agree with you. It's kind of funny that the actual age issue never really came up in their discussions. It's probably because there are certain situations where you wouldn't want to lock out 15-16 year olds.

Good morning. You do have a working and valid SPF record for slowtalk.com. We do that for all of the sites that we host the DNS for, such as yours. You can validate that by checking here:http://www.kitterman.com/spf/validate.html Use the top box. Now, that said, here is the part that I think you might be dealing with. If the From: address is NOT a slowtalk.com email address then the SPF we have for you isn't used. The domain name of the From: address is that is looked at. So, if the email is...

Wow that was quick! Thank you! That sounds like the issue, as I did send it from a slowtrav.com versus a slowtalk.com address (totally forgot about that). Will try again with the slowtalk address and see how it goes. Thank you for your help.

Hi, i am the Admin for forums.elationlighting.com and I checked that forum today and i see there were 5 new posts and 4 of which i never got any email notification about them being created. In short, i am not seeing any new posts via email, i am subscribed to ALL forum sections and i have not gotten any emails to either of my accounts on that forum. some of my co-workers have received the new posts emails, but i have not. I checked my spam folder several times a day, not in there either.

Hi, I just noticed a display issue related to email headers on my iPhone 6 (it may be a bigger issue elsewhere, but I only have that one mobile device). Essentially, the header is shifted outside of the email bounds to the right. See screen shot. What is causing this and can the issue be fixed? Is the issue bigger than just this, or is it isolated to iPhone? Thanks.

We've noticed we have quite a few people who join our online community and then never verify their email address and are concerned that these people are being prevented from accessing our site. What is your opinion on removing the requirement for members to verify their email addresses? Would you advise against it? Are there any potential issues we should be made aware of? Thanks! Emma

Brian said my recipe suggestion was implemented but unless I'm missing something, I don't think it was. My idea was: IF something is posted by email AND member is a new member (moderated, not yet a member) DECLINE membership (which also kills the email post). This keeps spammers from "registering" from our forum, which happens many times a day, or so it feels. I see the new "posted by email" and "not posted by email" but I don't see where it allows me to decline a new membership because the...

I'm having a hard time figuring out how to style our html that's set to be used as the header of our emails, so that they have a margin of 0.  Outlook seems to add padding to top, left, right, etc.

Hi there, I'm wondering if someone never verified their e-mail during registration, how do we give them access to the site? I've looked at some of the e-mails and I'm pretty sure they aren't spam, I just think people got confused in the process. I see that I can filter members to view the number with no verifications, we have about 600 on our site.. There is an option to "resend registration details" but I'm unclear what that does? Is there a way to contact people as a batch and let them...

To be more specific - For the email subject line, what we want is the topic's subject line, perhaps with a prefix, e.g. "[S4PMForum] Notification emails: remove poster's name from subject line??"

Hi Dave- Good idea. We'll add support for supporting this in a future release. The likely "fix" will be to make the subjects uniform for both new post notifications and comments/replies. I don't have an ETA for that at this time, but it has been added to our development queue.

( I am from the same group as Dave above ) I agree with Dave that this is a big aggravation for some of our members, but as with so many system tweaks curing one problem may spawn another. Let me explain. In this instance, without an indication of who wrote the new post, it forces the user to click in to each new note to see who has been posting. Thus the net effect of flattening your headers would be a lot more clicking for some because the header has been neutralized as a cue. To compare...

I had the impression that Gmail's conversation mode is 100.0% driven by the subject line, not by metadata. But I just did a test - wrote myself a msg with the identical subject line as an existing thread, and it did NOT go into that "conversation." Here, for anyone who's not deeply familiar with it, is a decent description of the pros & cons of conversation view. http://www.techrepublic.com/bl...on-view-in-gmail/128 And I'll paste in a screen grab, taken just now, of how it helps keep on...
