Getting your workspace in an acceptable manner really does affect your work. Have you checked out bringing in accessories like Wholesale Planters and lamps. This would really brighten up the place. What do you guys think?
I'm trying to set up a custom page, but for both Inherit or choosing a theme it is mandatory to input custom HTML. I don't have custom HTML as I want it to use the current theme's. What is the solution for this?
Hi Pearl, The custom HTML field is where you put the contents of your custom page. This field is required, as there's no point to having a custom page without any content on it You don't need to worry about putting any custom CSS or theme settings in that box. Does that help? Brian
Hi @Pretty Thunder ! Since this article was posted, (a couple of years ago), we have added the ability to include widgets on a custom page, so that might help you get part way there. If you'd like us to create the custom page for you, you could consider buying an hour of professional services time ($200). To take care of that (or ask more specific questions), just post a fresh support topic and we'll get you taken care of!
This has been extremely helpful for me! Thank you both (Jane and Rosemary)! It is always so empowering to see what other people are doing to build community, and how they are connecting online and offline relationships and projects to make the world we live in better. I'm struggling to make the conversion from Facebook to our new (3 months) Hoop.la site (LakelandConnection.com) but this has reminded me to be patient. I look forward to more case studies like this!
I'm so glad to hear that Chrissanne! I also learn something new every time I look at one of our customer communities. Jane's a great role model in more ways than one. Maybe we can do a Lakeland profile next
I love how they use circles. It is a great way to organize your friends by their relationship. So many time with Facebook, you cannot specify how they are related to you. Hopefully we will see a bit more iphone application development in this realm. The app that Google has out now could use a bit more polishing. What do you guys think?
Thank you for the pub! Much appreciated. I would like to mention Dennis Dautel, who had his team produce our flash banners and logo. Thanks again Rosemary
The world, and especially NYC is a better place for Chi Chi Valenti and Johnny Dynell inhabiting in it. Ms. Valenti's depth of writing/poetry talent, and ability to create and lead whole movements (and circus leadership!) is awe inspiring. She is the real thing..

I love this system of being able to give feedback. I love feeling insidery. I've had a couple of sites that have been really important to me and have been wonderful in so many ways, but with both of them I felt like I was shouting into the wind when I wanted to have some input into what I needed. Even though I haven't been here long enough to see a suggestion of mine come to fruition, I'm still getting feedback on whether you guys think it's a good idea, and if so, then at least letting me...
Thanks so much for the vote of confidence LOM! We're delighted to have you here, and I've already found myself nodding in agreement on your suggestions
After living with the new logo for 12 days: It's very big (double the height of regular text). That makes it double the height of our copyright notice in our page footer. It doesn't explain the relationship between our community and Hoop.la. With the old "Powered by Social Strata" logo, it was easy to understand Social Strata's role. That's not clear with the new logo. We'd prefer to have some options for the colour of the logo (preferably grey). Our corporate branding directive is to go...
HI Rosemary, this is a good tip. If I also have some CSS for the other h1 tag on the page - not the one for the title tag - could I still include information for the h1 in the CSS: h1#pageTitle { display:none; } h1 { font-size: 18pt;; font-style: bold; margin-left:8%; } .breadcrumbs {display: none;}
So many could learn from this. I've visited community's where the fun is all but gone, the rules make prison seem like a vacation, and interaction with the staff is prohibited. It's like why do they have a community? Great info Rosemary, as always
How can we also Display:None the breadcrumbs display on that specific custom page? (I want to embed a chat but not leave a trail back to our other chat rooms).
200 members is great but how many are free and how many are paying? What business model was used as far as pricing was concerned? The standard $25 a year? Or a larger monthly fee etc? I never watched the video, so sorry if it is mentioned there - 3am here I am too tired.
Hey Danny! I just thought I'd pipe in on this as I got the email notification that you'd responded. The video is before I had set up premium memberships and more focuses on things that I had learned about bringing new members to the site in only a couple of months and keeping them engaged. I've since set it up and do have maybe 5 paying members currently (at the standard annual rate) but I really operate the site for the love of sharing my interests with others and learning from one another...
The confusion surrounding social marketing is palpable. Whenever I speak with folks they believe it's only about posting to Facebook and Twitter. No one really knows how to engage customers. Now that I am blogging and writing social media posts for clients, it's a longer haul to earn traction. People and companies are so behind and had they engaged 3 years ago when everyone was excited to like, share, follow it would be easier today.
LinkedIn share button is coming...meanwhile, you can copy paste the URL into the LinkedIn post box and it should work fine (should you be so inclined). And I totally agree that confusion is rampant right now. Seeing the data from this study really gives perspective on how many folks are still figuring it out as they go.
We discussed using the friends list for this. We decided it was cleaner to start a new a new user-to-user relationship which we can build on for future privacy/blocking controls. Friends is very old and has a different use case than this tool. momix indigocard.xyz
Crowdstack doesn't have a concept of 'friends.' Instead, you can follow/get notifications when a specific person posts content. There's no mutual relationship. I'm not sure what that comment was referring to. The reason our private messaging works the way it does is that it isn't really a chat, it's a thread, which means the content is persistent forever (until it's deleted). Every participant can see the history of the entire conversation. If you could add people to the conversation down...
When you block a person, they can no longer invite you to a private message or post to your profile wall. Replies and comments they make will be collapsed/hidden by default. Finally, you'll never receive email notifications about content they create or likes they designate for your content.
Note: if you proceed, you will no longer be following .
