We've talked before about how to bring outside content streams into your Hoop.la via custom widgets, but there's a flip side to that coin.  You can also take your Hoop.la content and place customizable widgets on external websites.

Here's the scenario---

You have an existing website.  You have a Hoop.la (hopefully you've got a giant, enticing link somewhere from your website to your Hoop.la community).  The best way to get site visitors to come check out the community (and hang around) is to promote dynamic content from your blog, forums, or photos/video clips on your main site.

Any widget in Hoop.la is embeddable onto other pages.  Here's how to do it, step-by-step.  We'll use the "online now" widget as an example.

Here's what the widget might look like on your Hoop.la page:

When you hover over the widget, you'll see the tools in the upper right corner.  From left to right, they are "drag," "embed," "edit," and "delete."  We're going to click the "embed" icon.

When you click "embed," you'll get this Widget Builder page.  Now you have full control over the look and feel of the widget.  After all, your external web page may have a different color scheme and design than your Hoop.la theme.  

Get giddy with power, choose your colors, fonts, borders, size, and all of the other settings.  Click preview to see how awesome it looks.

When you're satisfied with its awesomeness, click Display Widget Code With These Settings to get your code.  Copy and paste the resulting code into the HTML for the web page where you'll display the widget.

The content of the widget is dynamic, and it will bring life to your external page as it changes.  If you've included photos of your members or their content, they will be excited to be featured on your site!
