Hi Brisotti, For that specific badge, the selector is .h-member-badge-350043526109298115 so the font can be controlled with something like this: .h-member-badge-350043526109298115 { font-size: 0.8rem; } Note that we don't generally offer free assistance with Custom CSS. Custom CSS assistance falls under our Advanced Support, which is $150/hour. I've made an exception here to get you going in the right direction. If you need further assistance, please open a new support topic. Regards, Brian

Hi @Alison Cebulla that's an interesting suggestion (which I don't think is currently in the hopper). Would you like to post that as a formal suggestion (click post > support topic) so others can weigh in? It would be great to hear more details...like are you talking about a way to inject an image during the flow of the social share button bar, or more an image that's just hidden/attached to the post in the background?

Thanks Rosemary for the tips. I especially like the Survey idea. Once upon a time, we used them to actually "survey" members about issues/ideas, but now I see that it's also a good idea to provide a point of easy-engagement. Update: We just posted a single survey question and got over a hundred engagements in the first two days One thing we've tried to do is assign "monitoring and response" duties to various members of our admin/moderator group so that every post gets responded to. These...

In the topic display, there's now a bar that shows the topic title as soon you scroll down. It appears with a white background, which doesn't look good on one of my sites. However, I can't find how to style it to have a black background in the theme editor. I can look into custom CSS myself, but isn't this available as a style option?

The Sticky at the top of the page feels too large, and you lose the context of the discussion. Suggestion. Instead of this: Continue to display the breadcrumbs like this. That is: Make the breadcrumbs sticky. ST
  • Blog Post Comment
I agree. I used the CSS to suppress the sticky title because it took up too much of the screen, making it hard to follow the content.
  • Blog Post Comment
More on the Sticky Header. Basically - I appreciate the intent but as it stands, it's pretty jarring when you scroll down. As I mentioned, I'd prefer to keep the context provided by the breadcrumbs, but even if you can do that, how do I solve this. Before the scroll. Once you scroll down far enough to trigger the sticky topic the background of the sticky extends across the width of the window, and you get this. ST

Hi Julie, Would you mind sharing the CSS you used for this. It will save me a lot of time. Thanks, ST

Hi @neil ! That just means that when Hoop.la generates automated extracts of posts (e.g. for showing recent replies in the topic list), Hoop.la will now strip out any quoted text (i.e. text in a blockquote ). This will give more focus to the actual post/reply/comment that was made.

I assist a large and varied recreational vehicle information forum in connecting its 23,000+ members to those who are outstanding in the field of posting valued CONTENT topic threads (formerly listed separately from COMMENTS). This moderately popular activity and the valuable ability of any member to access via these former CONTENT links in our gurus of knowledge Profile links is seriously degraded by the lumping of CONTENT and COMMENTS into what has been and remains the basic Display All...

    💯👍
Plance has hit the nail on the head, when he says, "...Now...valuable Topic threads are buried amongst perhaps thousands of Topic Replies...This degradation of categorization is a profound disservice to the functionality and lifeblood of our forum..." This is exactly the problem. What you've done here is the equivalent of having a nicely organized filing system and taking all the files and dumping them into a single file folder. I'm sure you don't have your in-house computers set up that...

Always like to see custom CSS tips, Ted We use all caps for our Category labels in a unique way which your cds would override. See below. While we're on the subject of the Breadcrumb nav bar...notice how the forum topic repeats itself ? Seems redundant. Perhaps tweaking your css to adjust background color of just the Breadcrumb trail to differentiate from the topic title. Or adding some space. Also, would prefer an arrow rather than slash. Slash is old school. Lessons and Resources Directory...

Actually, this tip had nothing to do with breadcrumbs. It was for the main site navigation menu, which is not the same thing. I'd suggest a new topic if you want consideration for a new breadcrumb options.
  • Topic Reply
See the thing at the top of this page that says: HOME SERVICES BLOG SURVEYS etc. That is the top navigation menu. Breadcrumbs only appear on certain pages and only when necessary, for instance when on a page that is levels down from the home page for that "module" (like on a forum topic page).

We have a support forum for our users. Unfortunately, some of the very people who need support seem to resist posting, or are confused by important things like remembering to "follow" their topic to get notification of responses. We also use graphic how-to's -knowing many don't read carefully. Our #1 support request is to "unsubscribe" or cancel memberships. We really wish Hoopla would allow users to unsubscribe/cancel themselves. Automation of that process would be more support-friendly.

Neil, I genuinely appreciate what you have done here. CSS is a little beyond my knowledge envelope and I really don't understand where to find the things to change, as you have done here. I have used a couple of your custom CSS codes in our site, with a nice improvement in its appearance. I have run into one problem, however. I have placed this code into our site: .h-ubb-directory-forum-box { background-color:#ffffff;border:1px solid #555555;padding:15px; } .h-ubb-topic-list-box {...

Hi Rich. Please post your site's url. topic-list-box needs "padding" inside the container: Here's what we're using: .h-ubb-topic-list-box { background-color:#DEDFE0; border:1px solid #DEDFE0; padding:10px; } The How-to: I turn on Chrome's built in "Inspector" to view the CSS which is controlling whatever element I've highlighted on the webpage. (I place my cursor over the element on the site, then right click and select "inspector). Up pops a window with the html and the css source which I...

Strange. The upgrade wouldn't have impacted that. If you are able to identify any specific scenario where things may be going awry, it would be great if you could put in a support topic with more details. Thanks!

No worries, we only have a couple custom permission circles and it only took a minute to restore content moderation to this group. On the other hand, I just created my first recipe! We get a lot of spam so new members are placed into a moderated permission circle and have be cleared by a moderator which adds them to a different permission circle. The recipe I created automates this (at least in theory b/c I'm not sure how to find/use a recipe).
  • Blog Post Comment
It would depend on what trigger you use for that recipe. If you'd like further assistance or have further questions, can you please create a new support topic , and we'd be happy to assist you further. It's a bit more difficult to tailor the support to you in the blog's comments section. Thanks!

Thanks Brian, will do. Really interested in the possibilities of recipes. The company I work for has a home-grown forum system that isn't doing well so I took them on a tour of the Hoop.la site I manage and they were very impressed. IMO it would be better to migrate to a Hoop.la community than continue down the path of the DIY approach. I'll submit a support topic to discuss the trigger for the scenario we've been talking about.

Always appreciate your releases but disappointed you've stopped giving them creative names. We implemented your suggested CSS code to suppress the new Post Content button. Our Reason: at our site it would likely invite too many improperly located or duplicate topics. I do like the idea of encouraging posts, however, so I'm wondering about a widget that features the current "hot topic" (as determined by activity/views/whatever) and has a 'reply now' button to catch interest on the home page.

Hi Lhisa, Hoop.la doesn't do any checks based on IP address that would prevent you from sending a dialog to another user. Users can choose to prevent others from sending them dialogs, however (assuming you are talking about dialogs). Thus, the new feature that allows you to register users through the control panel should behave the same way. The only difference is that you will not be logged in as the new user (as you would have previously). Without knowing exactly what error you're getting,...

I'm delighted the auto-close feature has arrived as it's something that's been at the top of the wish list for some time. However, I think there's a problem. I enabled auto-close for posts with no activity after 30 days. what has happened is that it has closed every single topic in the forum. Unchecking the box has not re-opened them. So... I now have many hours of going through and opening up each thread manually. Not very happy about that. Is this a bug and is there a way of opening up the...

@Julie Usher - please request a demo site to test Card Mode by creating a new support topic. This goes for any other existing customers that might want to kick the tires. Please note that we won't be able to set you up with a demo site though until after Card Mode is officially released (which should be soon). We will give access to a free demo site for two weeks, so only request it once you are ready to spend time to properly test it. Thanks!
  • Blog Post Comment
I'm not ready to test it right now (it's coming at the busiest time of the year . . .), so it sounds like I shouldn't set up a support topic just yet. And I'm not able to monitor this site in the next few weeks to know when you release it. I think it would make more sense for you to open up a thread on the topic for everyone once you've released the feature - and just ask people to comment there if/when they want to test it. Thanks!

Thanks ROSEMARY! re: Noodling... yes! I have a volunteer who is going to "dig for hidden treasures" on our site to bring them to people's attention. Our site has a lot of good older content, and such things can easily get buried. What I WISH was that there was some way to "mark" certain posts and topics so that they would appear in a custom content stream to only displayed those marked items. Another way to "sort of" do this is to create a topic dedicated to displaying links to "highlights...

Many of the "best of" are only posts, not the full topic. ☹️ Given the varied nature of this beast, looks like we have to post links manually via a custom HTML block, ...unless they ever decide to make the extract feature less "extracty." so that it preserves links and bulletin. And sorry for posting this in the "Discussions" area and not posting this in the Support area.

Wow congrats @Rich Melvin that's amazing! For those looking on in awe, thinking about how to make a similarly strong community, h ere are a few key lessons we might draw: 1. The topic was originated by a member (cool) 2. It's an easy to answer question...lots of members will have a ready response 3. It includes "insider" wording...if you know what a "layout" is, you're on the inside 4. It has a timeframe, today, which makes it automatically a recurring thought Do you have a mega thread in...

I have not been here for a couple of years. Someone else I have given our Forums to. I am also wondering if there is a way to switch back to the older style. https://guyana.crowdstack.io/home Where each topic was listed line by line for each sub forum. Rather than having it the way it is now. Thanks
