Hi, I am trying to create a pop-up survey using the News Flash feature, based on the instructions provided here: https://www.socialstrata.com/support/topic/is-there-a-way-to-display-pop-up-polls-when-someone-enters-the-site?reply=455608633201857807#455608633201857807 I seem to only be able to enter the embed code for the survey into the body of the News Flash if I click 'Insert/edit video' and then all that appears in the body is the scrollable strip shown in the image below. Please help!

Hi there, is it possible to do a news flash (e.g. a pop-up survey) only within a group? Thanks, Emma

Hi, When I create a news flash I see How does a member acknowledge the message. Do we consider it acknowledged when they click the X to dismiss the news flash, or is there some way to know they can click something to tell us they have read it. Never mind - I didn't see the green bar in the preview The behaviour is strange though - sometimes I don't see the News Flash when I sign in. It appears after I sign out. Do you have any idea why that's happening? Thanks, ST

The members of our chat rooms have been reporting numerous issues with Adobe Flash Player, which is a very new issue. Have their been any reports of problems with Adobe? Are there any suggestions I can provide our members outside of updating Adobe?

Hello Rob, I have not heard anything from you regarding this for a long time. I am going to go ahead and close this up, but if its still a issue feel free to re-open. Cheers, Jonmark

Good morning, What specific issue are users experiencing? Have they always experienced issues or is this something that just recently cropped up? Any additional details you can provide will help guide me towards the actual culprit of the problem. One last thing to find out is what exact version of Flash the user is using. Just have them go here and that will tell them what version of flash they are running: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-p...on-flash-player.html Cheers, Jonmark

Hi Jonmark, Thank you for your prompt reply. Our members have recently reported that when they try to access the chat rooms, they are receiving a blank or gray screen. The gray screen then lets them know they have an old version of Adobe and need to update. I have provided them information on how to update. This is a very new issue. We have just started to receive reports about this during this week. I have tested this to see what I could find and haven't had the same issue; hence why I'm...

Hello, Well it sounds like their version is too old. If you can, have the users visit that site I linked above and tell you their flash version. Further, could you have them give you the exact message that they are getting so I can see how/why the message would be displayed. Cheers, Jonmark

Hi Emma, To add the survey embed code, click the little <> icon all the way to the right of the toolbar, and then paste the code directly into the box. That should do the trick!

Hi Rosemary, Unfortunately the same thing happens when I embed the code there - only a little strip shows up, not even tall enough to read one row of text. Is this a glitch? Thanks, Emma

    <script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.eenetconnect.ca/static/wro/ecc.js"></script><iframe class="hoopla-embedded-content-iframe " src="http://www.eenetconnect.ca/surveys!embed/what-should-the-title-be-for-the-most-active-eenet-connect-members" width="100%" height="10" frameborder="0" onload="SocialStrataEmbed.getHeight(this);"></iframe>

Hi Emma, Thanks for that! So the issue here is that by default the iframe loads with a height of 10px, as you can see in the code you've pasted here ( height="10" ). When the embed actually renders in the news flash, the height will automatically adjust to show the full content of the survey. Since you probably know you want it to display at a certain height initially, you could try changing the height="10" to something like height="400" when editing the code in the News Flash, which will...

Hi, Emma: We don't have the ability to send a News Flash to just a group, at this time. You could notify them about the survey, however, via the group control panel, under Manage Members. You'd use the "Notify Member(s)" option in the dropdown at the bottom of that page. They'd get notified via their chosen method for instant notifications: email, alert, or both. Lori

Hi ST- Glad you figured out how someone acknowledges the news flash. It definitely sounds off if you are seeing the news flash only after you sign out. It's designed to be seen just one per signed-in session (until it is acknowledged by the member). Are you sure what you are reporting is the case, however? We'd be happy to do some more internal testing/verification, but we have not heard of any other reports of that issue.

Hi Ted, Thanks for getting back to me. It's erratic. The News Flash doesn't appear immediately after you log in (as we'd like). I've seen it appear if I click on an Alert button, or not, but if I haven't seen it during a session, it will show up right after I choose to sign out. I'd appreciate it if you can take a look. https://www.bosepro.community/g/portable Thanks, ST

Hi ST- I'm not quite understanding your last post, but one thing to keep in mind is that guests will see the news flash once per session as well, which would at least explain why you would see it when you sign out. If you think there is more to it than that though, please let me know. We've created an internal ticket though to further investigate regardless.

Hi Ted, We did something with jQuery and CSS to put up a banner. When the visitor dismisses the banner it sets a cookie so we don't display the banner to them again. We wanted to use the news flash, but I got preoccupied with it popping up at different times. I couldn't figure out if the news flash would be visible to all visitors - including people who do not sign in. When we got our banner working I turned off the news flash, likely just a minute before the system outage. I knew you might...
