We we're hoping to join a community that uses the Hoop.la platform however since being affiliated with the state we need to ensure that this platform is fully accessible otherwise we can't utilize it. Thank you for any help and or advice. The sites...

Today, I received a question from a potential customer. She wondered if our paid membership site (built in Hoop.la) was accessible to the Blind and Low Vision community. I know a few years ago it was not. Have things changed, or is there a plan for things to change in the near future? THX in advance for the info, Tobi

You already know that you can insert images into your Hoop.la posts by clicking "Add Attachments." But do you know how to refine the SEO value for each image? This quick tip offers some additional options that may help optimize your post (and make it easier to read for accessibility purposes). You'll notice there's an Attachments box at the bottom of the post, which is where you can adjust the Title and Caption if you'd like to do so. The Title field will default to the filename, but it's...

First, you should attempt to verify that the user is who they say they are. Ask the user to provide you with some of the more obscure information found in their private profile. As an admin, you have the power to create custom fields for the profile, and make them required (or optional). It's a good idea to take advantage of a custom field for security use. If you're still not sure, send an email to the email address on the account to confirm that they would like to change the email address...

Hi Aaron- I'm not sure I understand your question. Yes, Hoop.la is web accessible. In fact, it is an online community platform, which is inherently on the web. I'm guessing you are intending to ask something else? Are you asking if it is mobile-accessible? If so, the answer to that is also yes. If you can clarify your question further, we'd be happy to assist. Thanks!

Hi Ted, Thanks for your response. My questions is esentially wondering if it follows WCAG or section 508 or will it pass accessibility checks? I did a few checks on the site I was referring to and found quite a few issues with accessibility.

Hi Aaron- Okay, understand your question now. You are correct, Hoop.la would not pass every accessibility guideline at this time.

Hi Rachel, In trying to find the cause here, it's not clear that it ever worked. Switching back to legacy doesn't make it work, and we have not changed anything with the post button in the new version. We logged it as a bug in our tracker and we will see if we can determine what the root of the issue is, but I don't have an ETA to give you on a determination or a fix.

In order to setup your phpmyadmin (database access) account you'll need to first access your web services panel, located at http://yourdomainname/config The username and password for that was emailed to you when the site was originally setup. If you don't have it, you can request that your password be sent to you. You'll see MySQL management in the top right column. Click the database that ends in _eve and create a user. There is probably only one database there. Of note: 1) Users' passwords...

Hi, Tobi: Hoop.la is not officially in compliance with accessibility standards, but, as a site owner, there are some things that you can do to improve the experience for those users. Things like font size, text and background colors, and contrast can be controlled directly in the theme editor, and fine-tuned via CSS. Lori

Thanks for this tip, Rosemary. The last time I checked, Pinterest also uses the "Title " info for what shows up as the description on a pin. It would be nice to have an easier way (other than accessing the HTML code) to add a data-pin-description. (Sheesh. Your customers are always wanting more!)

Whether this can be called an "improvement" or not depends on your definition of "improvement." This was definitely not an improvement on our site. Many of our members are now seeing a red banner at the top of the page that blocks the menu toolbar! That is not an improvement.

Thanks for making these changes. Please also look at your font colors on Crowdstack's pages as an "accessibility issue." Links in "light" blue are harder to read for some of us. It may be a screen or eyesight issue or BOTH but it's something I always notice when I'm on sites (like Crowdstack) which use pale palettes. (May I suggest you switch the two "blues" you use in links on Crowdstack. Use the lighter one for the hover color, and the slightly darker blue for the link's static state). I...
  • Crowdstack Discussion
Hello I am a developer trying to do research on ingesting data from crowdstack. I created an account to see how fleshed out the api is and am attempting to do some testing. The link to the API docs is easy to find but what's not easy to find is this "API Access" section mentioned in the docs. Here is the link to the crowdstack api. If anyone knows where I can find it I would greatly appreciate it. It may just be because I have a free account I cant see it which is fine I just need to know that.

Hi @squidwurrd , The API documentation you linked to is for Crowdstack Pro . It looks like you're using Crowdstack , which does not have an API, which is why you can't find it in the control panel. Sorry for the confusion! Brian
