Hi, We have some query related to user management/administration using the API feature. 1. Is there a provision to block/ deactivate users in hoopla with hoopla API ? 2. Is deleting user possible with hoopla API ?. Deleting user from API will delete blogs, comments, support questions raised by the respective user ? 3. "The clips you posted must be approved by our administrators first. Once approved, it will be posted to our site."  I posted them. I'm a super administrator on my site. Why am I getting this message? Where do I go to 'approve' these?

Now I'm really confused! I just went in with my other computer to try to administrate the situation; and I could do the functions which I cannot do on this laptop. Why are my admistrator functions working on one computer and not on my other computer (my laptop, which I'm using for this message reply. wrb

Hi, Bill: Is it possible that you have more than one user? I know that I have one with administrator permissions, and one without, so I can mimic the user experience if necessary. If that's not the issue, try logging out on the machine that doesn't recognize you, and logging back in. If that doesn't work, try clearing the browser cache.

Hello Bill, The issue with the other machine could also be a javascript issue. Meaning that the user may have administrative rights, but for some reason the computer you are on is not activating the tools through javascript (which is how we show and hide the tools). Could you try manually going to the control panel with the machine that does not think you are an admin, to see if the application also thinks you are not an admin? http://battleplanministries.org/eve/cp Cheers, Jonmark

Hey guys, I'm the other person with admin rights / permission for Battleplanministries.org. I just worked with Bill to resolve the issue with no positive results. Here is what we did: 1. Using Windows Expolore Browser, cleared temp files, and history. 2. Re-accessed the forums, I was able to post my own reply, edit that reply. Edit Bills post on a topic, also access the control panel. 3. Bill was only able to access the forum, he was able access the control panel and post a topic. He is not...

I thank my Co-Administrator and friend, Dave, for his help and for the two, obviously knowledgeable folks who've tried to help. It is very curious to me that the system recognizes my ID/password; and when I'm our Forum community - battleplanministries.org/eve - it allows me to pull up the control panel or to enter the Moderator's Forum, which says to me that the system recognizes me as an Administrator with Moderator Permissions. Yet, I cannot do what any forum member can do on my laptop ...

April ... thanks for caring enough to provide a very good suggestion. Sometimes the best thing to do is the most obvious. But I did think of that; and I've also rebooted the laptop (where I'm having the problem) as well. What I can't figure out is why the system recognizes me as having Administrator permissions, because it lets me into the Control Panel (which only forum administrators can do); and then once in our Eve Community, it lets me into the Moderator Forum, which I established for...

Hello Bill, I seem to remember earlier in the thread you mentioned that you could do all of those things when you were signed in as the same user on a different machine? Is that correct? Before we really start digging into permissions I just want to make sure I have the full scope of this issue.
  • Support Topic Reply
Yes, Jonmark, when I sign-in to our Eve Community on my Dell PC, I can do all the things which my Administrator permissions allow me ... [1] go to the Control Panel, [2]to manage members, [3] edit/delete posts (my own and others, and [4] to enter our Moderator's Forum (for our battleplanministries.org/eve community. However when I sign on (with the same email ID/password) on my Vaio Laptop, I can do 1, 2, and 4 above (and some other functions); but I can't enter the "Edit" icon or even open...

It should be noted that Bill, was able to complete any tasks he wanted to, using his laptop, up until this past week. Bill correct me if I'm wrong, but you didn't download or update any software on your laptop, prior to this issues start, correct.

Hey David and Bill, Finally, to confirm one more thing: David, you logged into your account on Bill's laptop and were able to do all of the things that bill is for some reason prevented from doing? Is that correct? Do the functions that you are prevented from doing even show up on the page, or are they missing entirely? If they do display do you get an error when trying to do them or something else?
  • Support Topic Reply
Jonmark, Oops, no didn't try that yet. I will provide Bill with the necessary information so he can try it, We are not located in the same offices. Will advise results. Thanks so much for the reminder (can't believe I forgot that simple diagnostic).

Jonmark ... My friend David is right. He has Administrator privileges in our community as a Co-Administrator. And he has been able to do all the things I'm having trouble with. ... Now ... no, I have not added or changed any software prior to this problem cropping up on my laptop. ... When I try to hit the edit icon or the reply key, I get a little clicking noise and an indicator that an error is blocking what I'm trying to do; and I simply am blocked in trying to edit/delete a message or to...

Well, I just entered, with Dave's help, using his ID/password; and the problem remains ... no changes at all. So, it looks like the problem has something to do with my laptop. ... Bill

Oh now we're getting somewhere. Thanks for that last bit of info, Rev. Bill. Do you happen to know what browser version you're using? David mentioned you are using internet explorer. It could be version 6, 7, or 8.

The good news is that you will be able to use your laptop for administering your forums. It could be an issue with the browser (we'll figure out what's causing this issue). In the mean time, a possible solution is to use an alternate web browser. You could try downloading firefox and see if that'll get you the immediate access that you would like. http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/switch.html

If you don't mind me saying so, this has what looks like the classic symptoms of bad (corrupted) cookies. Have they been purged for the domains/subdomains in use? And then reacquired?
  • Support Topic Reply
Bill has tried clearing his browser caches and I believe his cookies. If nothing else he has logged in and out several times, and another moderator logged into the site on Bills laptop and experienced the same problem. I dont think that cookies have anything to do with it. I suspect its a Javascript problem on the browser on the laptop preventing the links from working properly. Both of the affected links Bill mentions use Javascript to load a popup window.

WEll, my friends ... my problem seems to be solved ... I've tried the pop-up blocker settings change ... even turned them off ... to no avail; but I just downloaded Mozilla Firefox; and when I use that browser in in lieu of IE ... bingo! Works fine. So, as soon as I can discover how to make Firefox my default browser it will be Sayonnara IE on my laptop ... Thanks to all of you for your help ... Bill

Hi Nancy, You should see them in the Moderation Queue. Look in your control panel under Manage Content, Moderation Queue. You should see them all there, and can approve them all at one time.

Hi Rajesh- None of the three points you mentioned are currently supported in the API. We can potentially support all three though via Feature Expedite, assuming we understand your requirements. We can support the following for a feature expedite fee of $1,000: Ban Users (your #1) Delete Users (the first part of your #2)-- but this does not include support for deleting all content by the users Suspend all email notifications (your #3). This would essentially check the "Suspend all email...

Hello ST, For security reasons we use one way encoding to ensure that member passwords are not stored on our servers, and cannot be recovered by ANYONE -- including us. As a result, we cannot send a user their existing password, and if a member cannot remember their password they have two options: They could go through the lost password process, as presented on the login page. An administrator could change the members password by editing the members profile and using the change password tool...

Hi, jonmark, I'm sorry. I thought I had replied to you. If I'm understanding you, there's no way to send a member their registration details (including the password) as we could in EVE. Maybe this option is redundant or could be reworded. We're using a Single Sign-On provider and they have a password reset routine that a member can initiate. It's not as handy as this sending the registration details was in EVE, but things change. Thanks, Jonmark, ST

Hello ST, I apologize for overlooking the fact that your site is using OneCommunity. That changes things quite a bit, since your OC Server manages how the user logs in, which includes their password/authentication model. As you mentioned, Gigya has their own password reset process, which is what would need to be used by the member in order to re-access their account. If, for whatever reason, the member is unable to use that process you would need to work with Gigya to determine how to grant...

Hi Jonmark, Hmmm OneCommunity... a new term for me. I must have missed a memo. Thank you for the thorough explanation about the background and what is happening. Please save me some hunting around and tell me how/where to edit the mail that goes out. "Finally, the "Resend Registration Details" action is listed in Manage Members because when a member joins your community through OneCommunity, we give the site the opportunity to provide useful information to the member through that welcome...

Hello ST, And I must again begin with an apology, OneCommunity is an old Eve term, and in Hoop.la, you are probably more familiar with SSO. If you look at the Registration Settings on your community you can see that you have your site configured to not send the "Registration Confirmation Email," but if you check that option it you will see a WYSIWYG editor appear, allowing you to set a custom message to appear in the welcome email. Cheers, Jonmark
