Up until now, Hoop.la allowed users to change their displayed name whenever they wanted. However, we realize that some sites may want to lock down that feature to prevent all or some members from doing so. Thus, today we added a new permission for Hoop.la sites that allows admins to control exactly who can change their name.
Note that the default behavior has changed with this update. This means that by default now your Hoop.la site does not permit users to change their displayed name. If you want to enable this again, you need to update your permissions. Go to: Manage > Admin Control Panel > Permissions.
To add the ability to change names for all of your members, go into the All Members permission group, and edit the "Permissions To Apply to Group", checking the box for "Change Displayed Name". That will give all members on your site the ability to change their displayed names.
If you want to grant this permission to a different permission group (not everyone), just go to the permission group you have in mind and add the permission there instead.
Note: this update has not yet been rolled out, but you should see it later this afternoon. The update is now available!
