The world, and especially NYC is a better place for Chi Chi Valenti and Johnny Dynell inhabiting in it. Ms. Valenti's depth of writing/poetry talent, and ability to create and lead whole movements (and circus leadership!) is awe inspiring. She is the real thing..

Hi, Ted. I just installed UNICODE 9.0 fonts so I could use this symbol. And later I found your post above. I went to Font Awesome https://fontawesome.com/icons/power-off?style=solid and used the instructions that said to use this code < i class = " fas fa-power-off " > </ i > When I do that, I get and trying the same code here in this message the html editor in this windows strips out the code and it won't render. What am I doing wrong. Thanks, ST </body>

Let me see if I can get this to work in the wysiwyg editor: This is a test Which definitely works. I think that the issue you are having is that you are trying to use the fas class, which I'm not sure is available in Font Awesome 4.7 (the version we are currently using in Crowdstack). We have plans to upgrade this in an upcoming release. Next, since the WYSIWYG does not have Font Awesome icon support built directly into it you will need to use the "Source code" option on the far right to...

Hi, Jonmark. That was helpful and I appreciate the time and effort you put into this. Signing on this topic. With thanks, ST

Hey Ted, looking forward to playing with recipes. Do you know if the release would have inadvertently impacted our permissions groups. We have one group who lost the ability to edit member posts in the forum they were assigned to. I had to go back and give them the Moderate Content permission. Thanks.
  • Blog Post Comment
Hi Augie, The Recipes release shouldn't have impacted your forum permissions in any way. Is it possible that another administrator made the permission change? Regards, Brian
  • Blog Post Comment
Hi Brian, the only recent change that was made to this permission circle was that some members were removed. No permissions were edited though. Today we received comments from existing members that none of them could edit posts which was one of the granted permissions. When I investigated I noticed that only the admins had the moderate content permission. Weird.
  • Blog Post Comment
Strange. The upgrade wouldn't have impacted that. If you are able to identify any specific scenario where things may be going awry, it would be great if you could put in a support topic with more details. Thanks!
  • Blog Post Comment
No worries, we only have a couple custom permission circles and it only took a minute to restore content moderation to this group. On the other hand, I just created my first recipe! We get a lot of spam so new members are placed into a moderated permission circle and have be cleared by a moderator which adds them to a different permission circle. The recipe I created automates this (at least in theory b/c I'm not sure how to find/use a recipe).
  • Blog Post Comment
Great! Yeah, your use case is definitely a good example of the power of Recipes Once your recipe is set up with the rules you want, you can just sit back and watch it work. As the recipe is triggered (e.g. as users register or post), it will work automatically behind the scenes, performing the tasks you assigned it to do... Have a great weekend!
  • Blog Post Comment
CRAP, if that's the case then I don't think I set this up right b/c the trigger would add every new member to an un-moderated permission group. Here's what it looks like:
  • Blog Post Comment
It would depend on what trigger you use for that recipe. If you'd like further assistance or have further questions, can you please create a new support topic , and we'd be happy to assist you further. It's a bit more difficult to tailor the support to you in the blog's comments section. Thanks!

Thanks Brian, will do. Really interested in the possibilities of recipes. The company I work for has a home-grown forum system that isn't doing well so I took them on a tour of the Hoop.la site I manage and they were very impressed. IMO it would be better to migrate to a Hoop.la community than continue down the path of the DIY approach. I'll submit a support topic to discuss the trigger for the scenario we've been talking about.

Sounds great, Augie! Let us know if you'd like us to demo Hoop.la for your company, too. We'd be happy to set up a customized demo site and have someone from our sales team reach out. Or you can just have them contact us directly: http://www.hoop.la/contact-any.php

Lots of great upgrades. Thanks!! A bit unclear about the wordlets and how they work. It sounds like they should work similarly to image sets; i.e., that we can edit default wordlet settings in the site. But I'm not sure, as when I click on edit wordlets, no defaults come up. See below. What am I missing and what is this supposed to do? Thanks.

Hi Julia, It looks like your attachment didn't upload successfully. Can you try editing that post and uploading the attachment again? Thanks, Brian
  • Blog Post Comment
Hi Julia- Even though your attachment is broken, I think I know what you are asking. By default, we setting the dropdown menu option on that page to "Search Wordlets". There are thousands of wordlets, so we default to "search" to make it easier for you to find the word/term you are looking for. To see all wordlets, or only the customized/uncustomized wordlets, you can change the dropdown menu on the right side of the page.

Thanks Hoopla....can't wait to play with all the new toys. Your great product and service just keeps getting better and better. The "wordlets" feature was an unexpected pleasure. I loved that about your older EVE platform and its great to see it back.

Thank you yangrong for pointing out the #1 word we've banned at our hoopla site to block spammers like you: "Nike." And I am not kidding.
  • Blog Post Comment
But I wasn't kidding. We discovered that by filtering the word "Nike" we send into moderation about 95% of all spam at our site.

Nice article. Too bad CareerStep's Hoopla site is a private community. I would have liked to have seen the 6 year game of "The Person Below Me." Would have also liked to be able to look at another successful community, you know, to learn something to try at our community.

I know, a 6 year fun for a game like that is pretty amazing. Makes me wonder what the longest-running game is... I'll make sure our next Q&A highlights a publicly accessible community, Carol! It is cool to pick up tips and tricks from each other.

Note that the method described above works for Dropbox accounts created on or or before July 31, 2012. You can still accomplish the same thing if you have a Dropbox account you created after that date, but it will be a bit more work, as described here: https://www.dropbox.com/help/201/en

200 members is great but how many are free and how many are paying? What business model was used as far as pricing was concerned? The standard $25 a year? Or a larger monthly fee etc? I never watched the video, so sorry if it is mentioned there - 3am here I am too tired.
  • Blog Post Comment
Hey Danny! I just thought I'd pipe in on this as I got the email notification that you'd responded. The video is before I had set up premium memberships and more focuses on things that I had learned about bringing new members to the site in only a couple of months and keeping them engaged. I've since set it up and do have maybe 5 paying members currently (at the standard annual rate) but I really operate the site for the love of sharing my interests with others and learning from one another...

Brian, it warms my heart to see someone like you, who is very knowledgeable about the tech side of things on the internet, and who is much younger than I am, do something like this. The issues you raised are spot on and have motivated me to do the same thing. I got a Faceplant page about 2 years ago solely for family purposes. I think I have 8 "friends." My daughter was posting pics of the grandkids there at the time. However, due to the privacy concerns you linked to in your post, she has...

Hi Neil- Thanks... it applies to all content retroactively. Thus, content created before the release was automatically "SEO-ified".
